We visited Kraam early on a Saturday morning, drawn by its beautiful ambiance and high expectations. The restaurantās design and atmosphere were undeniably inviting, creating a great first impression.
Kraam appears to embrace the trend of showcasing chef-driven dishes, which I understand and appreciate. However, while the food was decent and thoughtfully prepared, the service fell short and diminished the overall experience.
One particular server stood out for his lack of warmth and attentiveness. From the moment we arrived, his demeanor was unwelcoming. When asked if we had a reservation, I replied that we did not, and his response felt dismissive and lacked professionalism. He barely smiled, and we had to flag him down for basic needs like water refills and other requests. My husband was also confused about his dish, thinking the meat was undercooked, though it was clearly stated on the menu as āseared.ā The server handled the concern politely by explaining the preparation, but this moment didnāt make up for the rest of the lackluster service.
That said, the food runner was polite and efficient, offering a small positive note in an otherwise underwhelming service experience.
While the ambiance and the concept of chef-driven dishes are commendable, the service needs significant improvement. The current level of service detracts from the upscale dining experience Kraam seems to be aiming for, making it feel less refined than other comparable...

Kraam Thaiās menu was appealing. I ate there last week. Located in the Flatiron District, this restaurant was pretty. Limited outdoor seating but an interior that has flowers, foliage, overhead fans and lovely seating. It almost felt colonial.
What did I choose? To begin, I had the Chili Prawns Wonton served in a spicy lime sauce. The chicken and prawns were tasty combination and were filling. The broad rice noodles with Peking Duck were silky and seeped in flavor that I have been dreaming about them all week. Normally I donāt order a drink but the mocktail sounded interesting. Lychee, passion fruit and coconut was not in my opinion a good combination. What I should have had was the mango mojito. Several customers had ordered it.
Service was fine and Joshua had Iāll Ed in Thailand and was familiar with the cuisine. The restroom is downstairs and it is such a lovely well decorated large space to freshen up. Summer Restaurant Week here runs through the end of this month so I hope I can go again. I hope to have the corn ribs and the duck noodles. Letās not forget the...

From the moment I stepped in, the restaurantās modern yet cozy decor set the stage for a memorable meal. The service was attentive without being intrusiveāa perfect complement to the bustling energy of NYC dining.
Now, about the dish: the Pad Kra Pow Gai was nothing short of spectacular. Every bite burst with layers of flavorāthe tender chicken was perfectly stir-fried with a generous amount of Thai basil and just the right kick of heat from fresh chilies. The balance of savory, spicy, and aromatic elements showcased the chefās expertise in marrying traditional Thai ingredients with a contemporary twist. Itās rare to encounter a dish that feels both true to its roots and innovative at the same time.
