As many New Yorkers can relate, coffee is something we look forward to, as sad as it sound some days the only joy we have.
I live in the building and every day I come to this coffee shop to give them a "second chance", and after many many many second chances, my aim for this review is for management to take notice and make a change.
I was greeted with a smile today, to be clear the service isn't the problem. The ambiance, cleanliness, the location and all things about this cafe is not the problem. I LOVE that it's in my building... that some days I can wear a coat over pajamas to get my coffee and be back in my apartment in minutes..
The problem is fundamental, PAY and HIRE real baristas. When I say this I mean if I'm paying $15 for coffee and pastry and $2 tip, I am expecting my coffee to be professionally made. Latte art and not just some new guy dumping milk into coffee and rushing to put a lid on it to conceal the fact that his attempt at art failed hideously. The baristas that have been around are not making coffee, they're letting trainees do it and especially today -- it was apparent he was new, didn't speak english which isn't a problem to me (my parents are immigrants) but the fact that he didn't know what a flat white was... You have ONE job as a barista and I'm expecting you to be a barista.
I want to remind you I come here on an almost daily basis and after a week of bad coffee every day, Yes I am grumpy bc you've taken the joy out of my week. There are other incidents that have happened and I'll spare you of writing a novel because I think you get my point.
PAY and HIRE...
Read moreI am a devoted customer of Le Cafe Coffee, having patronized this establishment for a solid 8 years. My recent visit, however, left me disappointed and questioning my loyalty.
During my deliberation on an order, I was approached by a cashier/barista who, rather abruptly, inquired about my purchasing intentions and seemingly suggested I leave. Despite my explanation of being in the decision-making process, I felt an unwarranted push to vacate the premises.
As someone who frequents Le Cafe almost daily and has supported the chain through the challenges of the pandemic, this treatment was disheartening. I have been a consistent and loyal customer, even going so far as to involve law enforcement during a previous incident to ensure the safety of your staff.
It pains me to consider taking my business elsewhere due to this recent encounter. I trust in the commitment of Le Cafe Coffee to uphold exceptional service and hope this matter is promptly addressed to maintain the positive reputation of your esteemed establishment.
Update: I reached out to Le Cafe Coffee via email, and have not received a response. What is the purpose of asking a customer to contact you directly if you don’t have any intentions of acknowledging the message! If I could take away a star for the overall rating, I would. However, I did deduct a star from the service category due to the lack of communication from management/corporate. It is no surprise that the customer service at this location is lackluster. It is evident that corporate/ management sets the tone for how the employees interact with...
Read moreI’m honestly still in disbelief. My 10-year-old daughter, who’s petite and often mistaken for much younger, goes to 5th grade at the school across the street from this café. She has self-dismissal, and I was running a bit late to pick her up. For safety reasons, I told her to wait inside the café rather than standing alone on the street. What happened next was shocking: a male staff member told her she couldn’t stay unless she bought something and then kicked her out. A child. Alone. Simply because she wasn’t making a purchase. What he didn’t know? I’m a regular coffee lover and would have bought coffee and pastries once I got there. But now? Never again. How can anyone turn away a child who just needs a safe place to wait for her parent? Absolutely no humanity. Disgusting behavior. Businesses like that don’t last, they lack heart and basic decency.
