Today was a TRAIN WRECK...an intentional one. I get it, things go wrong, things go sideways, it's a tough business...BUT today. It was AWFUL! And, we weren't the only ones so I expect more will post their reviews today too.
With a reservation...you have to plow through a throng of people to get to the hostess who's behind a counter, out of reach of the many trying to get her attention. With a reservation...did I say that?
Once seated, the s*(&show began. Intentionally. Our waitress, once my friend visiting from London decided he was only going to have a Cappuccino, and I was having the yogurt plus a Latte, very loudly exclaimed "well, you can't be here for more than 45 min then...I have to turn the table!" Right. So then, he got my latte with oat milk and I got his Cappuccino with dairy (which I'm allergic to.,hence ordering the coconut yogurt and oak milk in the Latte. So after I started feeling sick and his Cappuccino tasted weird...the waitress rudely collected our silverware and napkins (how do I eat my yogurt...I tried to say but that fell on deaf ears). I wouldn't have to worry about what utensils/napkin I would need for my yogurt because it never showed up. Nor were the coffee's replaced after the switch.
I was super irritated by the way we were being treated as I overheard the table at the front a couple away from us trying to get the attention of someone who actually cared, it having been 45 min since their order and no food had yet to arrive. Again, deaf ears and complete apathy, forget customer service.
In the end, after I had voiced my frustration to the hostess, I did get my coconut yogurt, which was still on the bill as was what was given to the wrong person. An allergy to dairy, is real.
I will NEVER return and I encourage others to follow suit if they have been treated as we had, and the tables around us. I even left a tip,...
Read moreThe worst service I ever have. I recently visited Ol’Days restaurant with a friend and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. We waited an unreasonable 50 minutes for our food to arrive, and when we asked the waitress if it was coming soon as we were pressed for time, she claimed she had already told us about a shortage of staff or food in the kitchen, which was not true. We explained that we never heard that explanation, but she insisted that she had said it. She even went as far as questioning our ability to understand her by saying 'maybe you don’t understand what I was saying.'
What made the experience worse was that the waitress didn't apologize for the inconvenience even after we left without food. We felt like our time and presence were not valued. However, I want to note that another waitress, who served us earlier, was really polite and apologized for her colleague's behavior. Her professionalism and empathy were much appreciated.
While the food and coffee were good, the service left much to be desired. I want to be clear that my friend and I don't want to make any assumptions about whether our Asian appearance played a role in the poor service we received. However, we do believe that all customers should be treated with respect and given equal service, regardless of their appearance or background.
I hope that in the future, Ol’Days will ensure that all customers are treated equally and with respect, regardless of their background or circumstances. I suggest that the restaurant provide better communication and training for its staff to ensure that misunderstandings are avoided and customers are treated with the respect...
Read moreI wish I could say the experience matched the food, because while the meal itself was decent, the service was downright disgraceful. What an absolute embarrassment of a restaurant, especially for being in the heart of Manhattan. You’d expect better service in one of the most iconic cities in the world, but apparently that’s too much to ask here.
Our waitress was shockingly rude from the jump. Zero warmth, zero effort, and a nasty attitude that made it feel like we were bothering her just by existing. She didn’t check on us once, never asked if we needed anything, and gave off the vibe that she’d rather be anywhere but serving actual paying customers.
They close at 5PM, but as soon as we walked in, about 4;10PM, she was already dropping hints that “they close at 5PM”… initially my friend and I wanted to sit at a 4 seat table, considering the restaurant was pretty empty, without hesitation the waitress says we need to sit at a 2 seats table. Okay whatever. Here’s the catcher lol not once does she come to check on us but At 4:45, without so much as a word, she dropped a to-go box on our table like a mic drop of disrespect. We hadn’t asked for it. We weren’t done eating. It was loud and clear that she wanted us out.
And on top of that, the required minimum of 18% on her little tablet is insane considering the 0% service she offered.
It’s honestly laughable that a place like this can survive in such a prime location while treating customers like an inconvenience. The food isn’t memorable enough to justify that kind of treatment. Manhattan has endless dining options don’t waste your time...
