Remi Flower & Coffee — Restaurant in New York

I had a hard time figuring out what to rate this place.. however based on the fact it’s called Remi flower & coffee they nailed that portion. I was disappointed with the pastries. First of all this place is extremely cute and charming. If you like plants, flowers, and floral/herbal flavors this place is for you! My friend ordered the dirty chai and really liked it. I had an iced butterfly pea tea latte with oat milk and it was so delicious! I want to go back and try and beet and lavender lattes. It was very refreshing and fun to carry around (especially on earth day)! I loved the different lattes they have, makes this place very unique. The outdoor seating area is super cute with lots of flowers and in the sun. The part that I didn’t quite enjoy was the pastries.. it was confusing because all the labels were switched around and not where they should be. I ordered the Swiss and ham croissant and the cheese Danish. The Swiss and ham was reheated for me. It isn’t a typical croissant, it’s not flakey or crisp by any means. My friend had likened it to a Costco croissant kind of soft and bready which I totally agree. The flavor was good though, it just isn’t a traditional croissant. The cheese Danish was sorely disappointing.. it was stale and dry with barely any cheese. It reminded me of an overly processed gas station Danish. I paid $17 for the latte, croissant, and Danish which I thought was a little pricey. Especially the fact that the Danish was not really edible. Do not go here unless you want to rub shoulders with violent homophobes and support a business that refuses to do the bare minimum to create a safe environment for its customers. I was physically and verbally harassed by another customer while waiting for my coffee at Remi's 48th St and 2nd Ave location. The man, who was more than twice my size, grabbed my arm, pulled me, and called me homophobic and sexist slurs. The two employees working, one of whom was the manager, saw the whole thing happen and did nothing. Immediately after the man laid his hands on me, and while he was still waiting for his coffee in the shop, I explained what happened to the two employees. They merely responded by saying, "I'm sorry" and "He's a regular here and he's usually pretty chill." They could have easily canceled the man's order and asked him to leave the shop, but instead they allowed him to sit peacefully and wait inside for his coffee after he had just physically harassed someone half his size.They didn't even have the decency or customer service skills to offer me a refund on my coffee/pastry order. I have followed up with the business multiple times to suggest that they do not allow this man to patronize their store and terrorize other customers. They have ignored all my emails and calls. I had to return to the shop in-person to address the matter with the manager. He became extremely defensive and claimed he had no idea what happened, even though I explained it right after it happened while the assailant was still in the store. Remi creates a welcoming and peaceful atmosphere by combing a flower shop with a coffee shop. The only issue is this shop is tiny, it is very popular, and typically forms a line down to the end of the block. If you want to enjoy then I suggest you go early or go late afternoon to avoid the line. They serve tea, bottled juices, and La Colombe coffee which is a positive! They have artisanal chocolates, cookies and an assortment of pastries and sandwiches. The prices are comparable to Starbucks. The flowers and plants are for sale. Due to size they typically have a maximum of 4 people working. There isn’t room for any more people. Outdoor seating is available and limited to 12-14 seats. I gave 4 out of 5 because of the wait and generally people want to hang out at this location but there is no space to hang out! A seating time limit should be established so that once customers finish their drinks and or food they should leave. I went back to take photos when the crowd...
