I recently visited Sansan Ramen 2 days ago with 3 other friends of mine. I ordered a black mountain with 2 extra slices of chashu, and my other friends ordered a green mountain and a red mountain ramen along with a few other dishes of karage, takoyaki and a iced Thai tea. When ordering these plates, the waiter was all over the place asking for a repeat in order (Which we thought was fine and that he was probably just new). The order got placed and eventually was served to me and my friends. Since this was the first time we have been to this ramen spot we didn't know what the specific plates taste like. To skip to the chase I noticed that my ramen (black mountain) did not have the 2 extra pieces of chashu that I have ordered. I asked the waiter if they just forgot and to have them just cook them on the side and give it to me. The waiter goes to question the cook about the chashu and for them to just cook the chashu that they forgot on the side. However, this cook them proceeded to come to our table to question us and basically announcing that they did put the 2 extra chashu in my ramen bowl. I then noticed that I have actually been eating the wrong ramen bowl and my friend had my ramen bowl. However, like I mentioned this was the first time I visited this place so I wasn't sure what the bowls were suppose to taste like. I told the cook that the waiter was the one was put down our bowls in front of us and it wasn't our fault that we weren't eating our correct bowls. The cook basically then just said loudly "what do you want us to do then?". I obviously was not going to eat off the ramen that my friend already ate off of?? In a normal situation most restaurants would just remake the food...
As a restaurant, you are suppose to provide the solution not stare awkwardly and rudely back with your customers asking them "what do you want us to do then" especially when the fault was on the waiter.
Since I was with my friends I didn't want to make a scene so I said it was fine. To which the cook responded that she can give me 2 extra pieces of chashu. Although I didn't have the correct ramen, nor did I like the ramen that tasted like pesto (which was suppose to me my friends), I did not want to cause a scene so I was fine with her just at least cooking me the additional chashu I ordered.
I thought that was the end but it was not. The cook never cooked the extra chashu. In which I was not going to ask again. I am mostly really annoyed by this restaurant because not only did they messed up my order but they did not solve their mistake. Cooking two extra pieces of chashu that the cook promised should have been a easy solution but they just "forgot about it" i guess. Later after getting the check I realized that my friend also did not get the right drink, instead of a iced Thai tea he got a green tea.
I am annoyed at the service of the restaurant and their lack of ability to provide a solution to their mistake along with them not even doing what they offered. I'm not annoyed that I didn't get the 2 pieces of chashu but more the principal of it. They were the ones to offer 2 additional pieces in which we agreed upon. But did not follow up with it. I was also stuck with a ramen that tasted like...
Read moreHonestly, I was pretty excited to try this place but the service I received was seriously horrible.
My friends and I went in on a weekday after work so there was not many people on the store. We ordered 2 apps (takoyaki and karage), and 3 bowls of ramen (black, red, and green). I ordered the black ramen with extra chashu. My friends also ordered an iced Thai tea and an alcoholic beverage.
The alcoholic beverage came out first, but our service forgot to put in our Thai iced tea. When it did come out, it was a iced green tea instead of Thai iced tea. Following this, we got our appetizers about 20 minutes later. The wait was long but we were busy talking so it didn’t really matter to us. However, the first bite I took of the takoyaki, I instantly noticed that it was soggy and undercooked. :/ pretty disappointing but I still had hopes for the ramen.
The server came out and read each of the ramens and put them in front of us. I thought my black ramen tasted weird and a bit too oily but continued for a few more bites until I realized I didn’t have my extra chashu. The cook then personally came out and swore up and down that she gave me extra chashu. Then she pointed at my friends bowl and said it was in there. That was when we realized that the server had mixed up our bowls and gave me the green bowl that had Parmesan cheese in it (btw I’m lactose intolerant). There was a moment of silence and the cook said, in a super annoyed toned, what do you want us to do? At this point I had given up and said it was fine and I’ll just keep the ramen even though I didn’t ordered it and it wasn’t my mistake. The cook said in a rude tone that she would give me my extra chashu anyways and went back into the kitchen. The chashu never came and while the server did come to apologize, it didn’t help. We left a tip nonetheless but I definitely won’t be...
Read moreI had this place on my "Ramen Escapade" list for quite some time, so yesterday afternoon I finally decided to go since I was in the area. I was very surprised by the emptiness as soon as I walked in; there was only one person eating when I arrived. I could hear voices in the back so I figured the staff were back there. The space itself is quant and clean; I saw the self ordering kiosks and was flabbergasted. It was certainly different. Despite this, I likey the function that allowed me to add or remove items in my order. I sat myself down at the bar. A waitress did approach me to let me know they were out of sparkling water, so I substituted for a ginger ale. That's really the only time someone came out to speak to me aside from when the food arrived. It took all but 5 minutes for both my karaage and my ramen to arrive. I thought taste-wise that the chicken was good, especially with the sauce and lemon. The tori-san ramen was okay; the broth flavor was like your average pork broth, noodles were wavy and chewy and the chashu pork was tender, but okay. If I was to visit again, I would have to adjust to the norm of self service and only seeing a waiter if necessary. Overall, the experience was different and it was okay at best. Nothing outstanding but nothing horrible either. Just average, nothing...
