Absolutely terrible experience and ruined my only day in Newport. I was able to spend a few hours passing through and decided to stop in for lunch. Place seemed promising but the service was some of the worst! I walked in and it took forever to be a knowledge by staff which was upsetting due to the sign by the door telling you to wait for a host. I had to flag someone down to which I let them know I will be seating outside and they said that is fine and they will be with me in a moment. I took a menu and proceeded outside. I waited almost 20 mins (there were only two other people seated outside and this was for lunch so they were not slammed busy either) before going inside to see if they would send someone out. It was obvious they forgot about me cause they asked if I wanted a menu to which I told them I already got one earlier and am ready to order. They told me they would send someone out for me shortly. Almost 20 mins again passed before a waiter came out to serve the other two tables out there (one table to deliver food and another table to bring a check to) she looked up surprised to see me before going inside to grab a notebook and come out to grab my order which made it obvious they forgot about me a second time. I placed my order which was a simple meal and a beer. I got just my food served by kitchen staff which was fine but they forgot my beer. I waited about 10 mins expecting it to come out separately before getting irritated and just started eating my food. I was eating for over 30 mins and not once did anyone come check on me, bring me my drink, or offer a check. I was there for over a hour in total and was forgotten about 3 times and never even got the drink I ordered. Was the worst service ever, so bad in fact I actually decided to leave this review. If you are down in Newport don't waste your time here you...
Read moreI am not sure if my husband and I just ended up coming to Nana’s on an off night but we will not be returning. Our server was very negligent, she spent more time behind the bar talking with her friends who had come in than anything else. The food didn’t have its well known flavor and we left incredibly disappointed.
We visited on Saturday from 3:45-6 PM and it was very quiet, only 2 other couples were dining in the front when we arrived. We were seated quickly which was great and our server came to take a drink order and appetizers and when she came back with our drinks and and apps, she didn’t return for nearly 40 minutes. She was behind the bar talking to friends. We weren’t sure what to do and it had been 20 minutes between finishing our appetizers and then finally flagging her down to come take our main course order. She made eye contact with my husband and I several times and we had tried to let her know we were ready, to which she turned around and did other things. We weren’t rude to her and my husband left her a generous tip in spite of the poor service. No one came to check on us and she didn’t bother to check on the other customers who were in her section either. After she had taken our meal order we didn’t see her again until our bill arrived at 5:45.
The food was bland and I had two hairs that were not my own in my fish and chips.
None of the staff were blatantly rude, just incredibly negligent on the front end side. This was the first date night my husband and I have been able to have in nearly a year and we drove from Otis, really looking forward to a wonderful experience. Sadly we will not be returning.
From the other reviews, we may have just ended up on a bad night; nevertheless we won’t be coming back. Wishing a much better experience for...
Read moreThis is a wonderful place to grab a pint, or even an entire meal! Not only do they serve all the traditional Irish items, but they have a few extras as well. All of the food we had was absolutely wonderful, and I'd gladly have it again (we went back a few days later just to try new items and those were all wonderful as well). A couple things that Nana's Irish Pub does that really sets them apart is that kids eat FREE. And I don't mean just a couple fries or a lame hot dog -- but a full on meal. You get to choose one item from three columns to craft a meal for your kid. Mashed potatoes, chicken tenders, scrambled eggs, fruit and apple slices, etc. Possibly the most impressive "kids eat free" we've ever experienced -- because the kids food was actually very tasty as well. The service here was good, although the first time we arrived the poor lady who greeted us looked like she'd never seen children before and didn't know how to handle us. I think the problem is that it was about 8:15 PM and we didn't realize that at 9:00 PM in this part of Oregon (or maybe all parts) you can't have children in any establishing that serves hard liquor. We just make sure to arrive extra early on our second visit (because we HAD to come here a second time, and will try for a third before we leave the area). The staff was all very friendly and helpful. On our second visit, the man who seated us made it a point to make sure we knew about the children's free menu. It's nice that they're offering it and supporting it as well. We had everything from the fish and chips (outstanding -- great big chunks of beautiful flaky fish) and the stews (pot pies, etc.) were amazing and crazy-tasty. We loved every bite and would recommend this place to anyone who even remotely likes...
