I had a truly disappointing experience at the Red Lobster on Miller Lane in Dayton, Ohio. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this restaurant was far from the standard I expected. The cleanliness was questionable, and the carpet looked like it had seen better days, with multiple stains that gave it a rather unsavory appearance.
The only reason we stayed was because of my grandchild's insistence on having Red Lobster's Cheesy Biscuits. While these biscuits are undeniably delicious, they weren't enough to salvage the overall experience.
To make matters worse, we were seated right next to an open view of the kitchen. Every time a waiter or waitress passed by the sink inside the kitchen, they would nonchalantly dump glasses and leftover coffee onto the floor, right where there was a drain. This not only created a slippery and hazardous environment but also meant that everyone who walked through the area ended up tracking whatever was spilled onto the filthy carpet throughout the entire restaurant. It was unappetizing and unsanitary.
When we finally managed to place our orders for four adults and two children, the food came out in a haphazard and disorganized manner. Some of us had to wait, out of politeness, while others didn't receive their food until it had gone cold. It was a clear indication of a lack of coordination in the kitchen.
My own order of Surf and Turf was the final straw. I specifically requested a rare steak and what I received resembled a charcoal briquette. It was overcooked to the point where it was inedible, and I couldn't believe that it had been served in such a condition.
To add insult to injury, the drinks were syrupy, and the adult beverages were barely distinguishable from Kool-Aid. The overall quality of the food and beverages was far from what I expected from a restaurant, especially one specializing in seafood.
All in all, my experience at the Red Lobster on Miller Lane was thoroughly disappointing, and I have no intention of ever returning. I will seek my seafood elsewhere in the future, and I'm hesitant to give Red Lobster another chance in any location. This visit was a letdown in every aspect, from cleanliness and service to the quality of food and beverages.
I must acknowledge that our waiter deserves some credit for their efforts to salvage our experience. When I brought the overcooked steak to their attention, they promptly apologized and took steps to rectify the situation. They had the kitchen prepare a new steak, which arrived in a more acceptable condition. Additionally, our waiter made sincere attempts to ensure that the rest of our dining experience was as pleasant as possible under the circumstances.
However, it was clear that the issues we encountered extended beyond the control of our individual waiter. The management of the restaurant and the majority of the staff appeared to be less than capable. The problems with cleanliness, the disorganized service, and the overall subpar quality of food and beverages were systemic issues that our waiter, despite their best efforts, couldn't entirely overcome.
While our waiter did their best to make amends, the overall experience at the Red Lobster on Miller Lane in Dayton, Ohio, left much to be desired due to the management and staff's inability to meet the expected standards of a restaurant. This experience has left me with little desire to return to this establishment or, for that matter, to give Red Lobster another chance...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped at the Miller Ln. Dayton, OH Red Lobster on Saturday around 12:15 pm for lunch. I was a bit surprised that there were only a couple tables seated at this prime lunch time. I guess that should tell me everything. When we walked in the hostess asked how many, then proceeded to walk away. So, instinctively, we followed her. She placed napkins and menus on a table and then left. Never said a word! Wow, I was surprised. We looked at the menu, decided what we wanted and then just sat there for approximately 15 minutes before a waitress stopped by. Again, we were only one of a couple tables of customers in the entire restaurant. Not like she was overwhelmed. My wife ordered popcorn shrimp, asked that the shrimp be double fried so they are nice and crispy, a salad and baked potato. I ordered fish and chips with fries, coleslaw and extra tartar sauce. Our food arrived in an acceptable timeframe, except my wife’s salad never made it to the table. She told the waitress that she had ordered a salad, and the waitress said “I know. I’m about to get it.”. I guess she is unaware from her training that salads are to come out well before the entrée. So, my wife sat there for approximately 8 minutes waiting on a salad while her entrée got cold. Once the salad arrived, I noticed that I did not receive my coleslaw, my extra tartar sauce and her popcorn shrimp was very light colored and soft, not extra fried at all. I stood up searching for our waitress, with no success, when a gentleman walking from the kitchen area saw me. He approached me and asked if I needed something. Strange he never introduced himself, I only assumed he was a “manager”. I explained that my wife’s salad came out after her entrée, I was missing my coleslaw and extra tartar sauce. I didn’t even mention the shrimp not being extra fried. He said he would take care of it and brought me my missing items. Our waitress never stopped back out after dropping off that salad until we were finished and waiting to get out of there. She never apologized for the errors and lack of communication. She never asked if we were satisfied. We just left vowing to not be back. Lesson learned. When you walk into an established restaurant such as this on a Saturday afternoon at prime lunchtime in a very populated area such as this and there are only a few people in there, there is a...
Read moreMy husband & I came into the restaurant at around 8 pm July 23, 2023. We were seated at a booth near the front just to the right of Booths along the window area. Our waitress took forever to come by & get our drink & appetizer order. We asked her when she came back by us after several mins of waiting ,if maybe she was 1 of the only waitresses working there because it was taking so long since there were very few people in restaurant besides us a couple at booth behind us. She replied "No we were just Busy earlier & now we are just kinda chilling?" We could hear workers & servers carrying on & laughing in the Kitchen & back area. We were never checked on to see if we may Need another beverage. After about 25-30 mins our muscles came out & they had chopped tomatoes on top that looked barely cooked. The plate they were served on was barely Warm. This was my husband's birthday dinner & by that point I/we decided that was enough. When we asked for the check to simply pay for the 2 beers we were served, because we could see that no one there cared whether our food was served or even pleasurable we weren't going to stay you pay that much $ on a meal that the servers & cooks were too busy having fun to care about our order. The manager then came & asked what the problem was . I had him feel the appetizers plate he wanted to replace but we decided after that much time of waiting & not getting any attention from the workers to leave. The manager used to be a server & served us many times b4 but this was unacceptable treatment as customers.. He apologized & offered to not charge us for the 2 beer's we accepted & left. We have never had to leave this red lobster due to bad service before but this time was unacceptable. The couple in booth behide us even told the manager that everything had taken way too long. After walking out of restaurant there were 5-6 servers outside another employees car like it was a party looking at her new dog. We ended up eating at a Longhorn steakhouse across the road. This was not our plan, but at least there we were treated with respect & dignity. Everyone there was friendly & attentive to our needs as should be at a restaurant. I don't know if we will ever return to this Red lobster on Miller...
