First time at this spot on my way to the Ontario Airport. I have to say I really enjoyed this place. We walked in at the time that fortunately for us was slow, so the server had time to explain to us the whole shabang on this place. I love shabu shabu and Korean bbq, this place is both in one place. Most like it's an all you can eat while cooking it on your soup pot. Different flavors to chose from. Like miso, spicy miso, kimchi, pho, and much more. Our meat selection, ribeye, Kobe chuck, beef belly, brisket, pork belly. You can keep going until you are completely stuffed. It's been a while since I have been on one this all you can eat spots but certainly I'm happy that we had stumbled into this place. As we were almost finished we noticed the restaurant got packed with a wait out the door. Seems to be pretty popular. However like every where in the industry they are lacking staff big time. So after the restaurant was really busy we saw our server less and less. But he was positive, not frustrated and tried to show his best attitude. Since you help your self to everything with the exception of meats you really can manage with out a server for while. Also you can have as much shrimp, crab, clams, crawfish and octopus as you want as is on the help yourself line. Recommendations, get there at around 5 or so, avoid 7 or 7:30 as you'll be on a wait. Service is best around 5 as well. If you still decide to be there after 7, relax, order and enjoy, keep in mind your service most likely be slow but a great place...
Read moreIf you haven't been keeping score on the local I.E. food scene there is a newish restaurant (opened for a year now) called Boiling World, just south of the Ontario Mills, that specializes in hot pot cooking. Also known as steamboat and shabu shabu, hot pot is where you take a large pot full of flavorful broth and gently put in all sort of ingredients like seafood, meat, vegetables, and other stuff. You can do hot pot alone, but a large group is way more enjoyable. The restaurant itself is in a large cavernous open air space that features a minimalist industrial theme. The floors are a coated concrete with long dark wood tables in the middle of the restaurant designed for big families while the booths, located on the outskirts, are large, deep and spacious with large backs for privacy. There are no open flames here the pots are heated via fancy space age induction. The food concept is pretty simple. You pick your broth, there are nine to choose from (I had tonkatsu). You order your meat. Then you get up and gather the other cornacopia of ingredients from the buffet style tables. Once the meat arrives, you place everything into the pot. Everything cooks quickly and simply. Unlike korean bbq, nothing will burn here. The broth will infuse your meat and vegetables will flavor and vise versa. So if you are looking for a unique eating experience check this place out. Bring a large group this place is large and the staff is helpful...
Read moreWent there yesterday night, Tuesday, and everything was good until table service. The host guy at the front was great, and very nice, he told me and my partner that we could wait by the bar until our table got ready, and so far great. Got seated and the bartender girl was very fast, attentive, she quickly got us a menu and gave us a recommendation on the drinks, and the drinks were great, got a paloma and Tokyo mule (I believe that’s what it was called, her recommendation and incredible) and honestly we should had just stayed there just at the bar. We got seated, and once again, host guy was very friendly and explained everything. and it was just downhill from there. The food is great, and the broths are amazing, but the servers were terrible. Lily (I think that’s here name?) was rude and unhelpful. We filled the paper and we had almost all the veggies from the bar and our paper wasn’t even taken from her. The other two servers didn’t even look at us. The first round of meat wasn’t even had we had marked for, didn’t got our lamb until we asked for it separately. What saves this place it the good food, and drinks, cause service it’s slow and rude. Will be coming back for drinks with the bartender, thankfully we tipped her when got the drinks, cause she deserved. Please please train your serves to actually pay attention to the guests and not just run around like they are...
