Upon ordering coffee, I was given a ceramic teapot and a bowl. I don't want to drink with two hands, from a bowl, like I'm in an orphanage or a prison. The teapot was filled to the top and had a small spout, so inevitably it dripped down the front and formed a pool on the table. Then it spilt over, onto my pants, making a stain. Just give me a mug like every other café. I was served some bread with the salad, which was dry and crusty. When I ordered a sandwich afterwards, I again got this dry, crusty bread. Bread is great − I came into this place because they had "bread" (pain) in the name; and yet this is the bread they're so proud of?? In keeping with the gimmicky theme, the open sandwich was served on a tiny ceramic cutting board, rather than a plate. To cut through the crusty bread, inevitably it slid all over the smooth cutting board and the sandwich's filling fell off, onto the table. Why do these people make things needlessly difficult? There was slow, classical music playing the whole time. Why? It's like these people went to Europe once and didn't really understand it, but tried to recreate it anyway, because it's chic or something. C'est très français, c'est la bonne vie, notre café. Juste comme la Provence. I ran out of water and coffee and had to keep waiting to get the attention of the waiter, who really wasn't busy anyway − the café was overstaffed and he was just chatting with colleagues. The waiter asked me if mayonnaise was fine, considering I didn't want cheese with my sandwich🤦. I can understand other diners perpetuating this misconception that mayonnaise must have milk because it's white, but if this is your job; if you're paid to work in the food service industry, and you have no clue what ingredients are in your food, what the hell? I had to move tables because the waiter refused to let me use a power point to charge my phone. Apparently this other power point at a different table was acceptable. I asked what difference it makes and he refused to give an answer. Just 'cause 🤷 I won't be back.

It is difficult for me to review this place. The atmosphere expressed through upholstery is great. Wooden chair, huge and bright windows, nicely presented pastry items in the cupboard, various types of gems and seasoning on the table, everything I can see levels up my expectation. But that’s where the good news ends. Servers are not very attentive to people. I have to raise my hands to a third time so that he can see me. There was a time he was walking right in front of my seat and missed my call; I ended up having to hint the other server that I would like to talk to him. For the food, they were fine but not impressive. Coffee is not served in a traditional cup but comes with a set of a jar and a cup. The set itself has aesthetic value but not pragmatic utility. The cup has no handle, which makes me have difficulty enjoying hot coffee. So I have to wait till it cools down a bit, but come on, who likes lukewarm coffee? For the skillet baked eggs, avocado, tomatoes, and feta cheese all add nice flavor into the dish, which is a plus. The only trouble is the bread, which tastes absolutely stale. Though looking fresh, bread is hard and dry. With this being said, it is not over toasted, since it is not toasted at all, but left to dry? Overall, the astonishing dining environment does allure me to anticipate a wonderful experience to come, the actual food and service creates substantial setbacks.

I normally avoid places like this for fear of them being too bougie, but this location took me by surprise! It was around lunch, and while I was willing to keep wandering around, my friend had that look of "I need food now or there will be a PROBLEM," haha. My friend's chai was delicious, and that plus my coffee came HOT. They serve everything in thin, single walled ceramic bowls and mini teapots that are aesthetically charming but conduct A LOT of heat. They're very hard to hold if your beverage is over-brewed to a high temp. Still very tasty once we let it cool down. We shared a raisin pastry and a grain bowl that were DELICIOUS! The pastry was perfectly flaky and buttery, but the grain bowl was so nourishing and well-balanced with sweet, earthy, and savory flavors. We loved it! It was an early Sunday afternoon, so we were surprised there was no line (we later realized the St. Patrick's Day Parade was distracting everyone else). The staff was phenomenal, as we sat there the place was suddenly PACKED with people for Sunday brunch, but our host/waiter never skipped a beat in making sure we were taken care of for food and drink.
