An engagement ring is probably the most important piece of jewelry you will buy and DeSumma and Wexler understand that fact and care as much about the ring as you do. I rarely write online reviews, but the service, expertise, and pricing I received from them was beyond excellent and I must write a review to help other couples looking to purchase an engagement ring. I cannot recommend DeSumma and Wexler enough! Their business philosophy is to create lifetime customers by offering the best quality and pricing and I can honestly say that I will be a lifetime customer after creating a custom engagement ring with them. Designing a custom ring can be time consuming and challenging, but it was a real pleasure to do it with Michael at DeSumma and Wexler. Before working with him, I visited nearly every jeweler in the diamond district in Philadelphia and no one showed me the same level of attention. Michael who was extremely knowledgeable and honest and I never felt pressured like I did at other jewelers. And ultimately, the custom engagement ring that we created was so beautiful! My fiancé, her family and friends, and my family were all so impressed and I am so happy that Michael was able to turn my ideas of a ring into reality.

Because I bought a custom ring, I will comment on that process and the expertise that I saw at DeSumma and Wexler in case you are considering a custom-made ring. I wanted to create a non-traditional Art-Deco style ring for my fiancé, with a center emerald cut diamond surrounded with smaller baguette cut diamonds in a halo setting, which you can see in the pictures. In picking the diamonds, Michael was extremely knowledgeable about the quality of diamonds he was showing and helped me pick the perfect diamond for my budget and I never felt pressured to be up-sold. When picking out the baguettes, he probably spent two hours with me as we sorted through his inventory to find the correct sizing to perfectly match in the color and fit tightly around the center diamond. Then the diamonds were sent to a designer who measured them and created a Computer Assisted Design (CAD) model of the ring based on my initial sketches. Michael was so professional in the entire process and we went through several iterations before I was satisfied with the design. The design was exactly accurate so I was able to have extremely tight control on the spacing of the diamonds. The setter he has is also unbelievable, I must say, because if you look at the ring in the pictures, there is very little margin of error with the custom ring. If you are contemplating making a custom engagement ring, the expertise that Michael and his team have will make your dream ring a reality and I fully recommend them!

When I made my way to jewelers row that fateful day, I had a few stores lined up based off what I read in reviews from peer on Yelp and Google. While I’m glad these reviews led me to the perfect jeweler, these reviews do not capture the INCREDIBLE service Rob Desumma and his team provide. Naturally, I was nervous walking into the store, but within moments of speaking with Ron, my qualms were at ease. He was patient, kind, asked and answered questions, provided valuable input, and helped me find the PERFECT ring in less than an hours time.

We had uncertainty on the size of the ring for my fiancé, and he offered a temporary easy solution with the ring spacer, and a permanent solution with a free resizing if it weren’t to fit correctly at the time of the engagement. Little things like that are what separates Desumma and Wexler from the rest. At their store, you’re a valued customer and human, not just a means to making a sale. Even after the sale, Desumma and Wexler rose to the occasion by providing a replacement ring box (the original box was dropped and broke) and offered future assurance by evaluating the ring and ensuring its secure in its setting whenever we want to drop it off for servicing.

I was on my way to jewelers’ row in Philadelphia. A friend referred me to some he knew that had a jewelry wholesale business. I don’t want to mention names, but my wife and I were very disappointed with the service we received at their shop! The owner had picked 3 bracelets for me and that was it. He did not want to show any other bracelets as he felt it would be beyond our budget. (He did not know what our budget was.) We did not like what was presented or the lack of service. The owner of that shop assumed other bracelets were out of our budget and had nothing else to offer, so we left. I was looking for a tennis bracelet for our 25th anniversary. We had stopped by several other jewelry stores on Jeweler row. We were almost ready to give up hope when we stopped at DeSumma and Wexler. We were greeted by a salesman Michael who was not pushy. He really listened to my wife and what it was we were looking for. To our surprise Michael came up with several beautiful tennis bracelets. Michael was patient and explained the differences between the tennis bracelets. Michael worked out a price for us that was agreeable. We felt that Michael really cared about us and his business and building a relationship. Michael prices and service far exceeded all the other jewelry shops we went to that day on Jewelers row.
