Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Pigeon Forge

I struggled with how many stars to give this place based on our visit. The food was exactly what I expect from Golden Corral. It's good (not amazing), and there are a lot of things to choose from. I love making chocolate covered pineapples for dessert, and the Bourbon Street Chicken is reliably delicious. They put out a brand new tray of Bourbon Chicken just as I got to it, so that was a plus!

Our waiter kept our drinks filled, even though it was very busy. That was terrific!

The most disappointing part of our experience was upon arrival. I called as we were driving to see if there was a long wait - almost everyone had a long wait the entire time we were in Pigeon Forge. I was told there was no wait at all! Wow! We made a beeline for Golden Corral, but when we entered the restaurant 5 minutes later, there was a 30-minute wait. I find it very hard to believe they went from no wait to 30 minutes in 5 minutes, so I feel like I was deceived. That is the reason they went from 4 stars for pretty good food and very good service inside, to 3 stars because I would have chosen another restaurant had I known I would have to stand in line for 30 minutes. (I would have gone to the Pottery Cafe, where the food is magnificent. The wait there was 45 minutes, but I could browse nearby shops or sit in the courtyard instead of...

Make sure you're really hungry before going because you will be full when leaving. 😋 All you can eat while you're there. They have several different stations based on the different styles of food. So there are a lot of food choices here. The salad bar station. Steak, meatloaf, chicken, fish, etc. Chinese food, Mexican food, baked potato & sweet potato station, taco station, & of course all the sides you can think of & then some w every type of vegetable. Soups, soup beans & corn bread. & My favorite their hot rolls w different options of butter. They also have a dessert section.🎂🍰🥧🍫🧁🥮 Ice cream station. 🍦🍨🍧 ☆Prices: There are different prices based on age & senior discounts. They also offer take out & weigh by the pound. (If you look in the coupon books, you will find a coupon for Golden Corral. Use it) Your meal is separate from your drink. So you will pay extra for it unless you get water. The staff was really nice & very friendly & attentive. It was well maintained & clean. Very busy. They have a huge inside space with a lot of tables on both sides. The food was hot & stocked & if anything was running low or out, all you have to do is ask, and someone will get you more. It is well worth your money...

We were visiting the area and looking for somewhere sit-down that would have food choices for everyone to enjoy - from choosy kids to adults with particular food preferences. Golden Corral fit the bill. (I eat keto, and I can always find something at a GC buffet). This place was packed - as was most every other restaurant in the area at 2pm - but there was still a lot of open seating. It took us a few minutes to find a table for 6, but we could have opted to push together two smaller tables if all else failed. There were a lot of people packed in this place - a whole lot, but the food was refilled promptly and the selection was as expected at a GC, only on a larger scale. The salad bar was fresh, the steamed veggies and baked fish were nice, the burgers and fries selections were tasty, as were the pit roast and seasoned chicken options. Our wait staff was friendly and attentive. While the grown-ups enjoyed a wider selection of fare, the kids happily ate as much ice cream as they did pizza.
