I requested a second floor room and was in 211. The only complaint I had was it was a little noisy from main road traffic at times, (we ran ac unit and fan all night to cover it) but otherwise a good value for the price, room was very clean, beds were surprisingly comfortable with plenty of plush pillows, the shower had a nice, large rain showerhead and we never ran out of hot water- in fact, if you weren't careful it could get too hot. There were a few minor things like a stain on the side chair that looked like spilled coffee and the way the bathroom door opened up to block the sink area, but other than (things that didnt affect cleanliness) a chip of ceiling paint in the bathroom, a scuff in the wall from the bed foundation rubbing, and a broken cover plate on an outlet, everything appeared spotless and like-new. I like that the beds only had a thin removable coverlet sheet (instead of those typical comforters that I doubt get washed enough) and we were provided two clean fleece-like blankets to use with the sheets (they are folded in the drawer beneath the tv and we were told this checking in). The sheets themselves were very soft like microfiber and smelled clean- I could tell they'd used bleach. I opened drawers in the furniture and didn't find any roaches or bugs at all (no indication of any either). The microwave and refrigerator (but no freezer) were clean and worked well. They had new patio chairs outside each room to sit on the balcony, but they did not have tea bags or cups of creamer in the room, only coffee pouches and sugar/powder creamer. The toiletries consisted of small tubes of conditioning shampoo and individually wrapped bar soaps which was adequate- but I always bring my own anyway. We didn't require maid service, but they don't automatically offer daily service unless you request it and this too was said at check-in. The front desk staff was friendly, but we didn't require much as I had already checked in (and out) online through Wyndham's site.
Honestly, I don't understand the bad reviews- maybe they were written before the remodel??...except that some people can't be pleased. This was obviously not advertised as a 5 star luxury hotel. I felt safe- saw no one around loitering or leering, the room didn't have any signs of insect infestation, they were recently remodeled and there were blackout curtains that darkened the room sufficiently for sleeping. The mattresses were comfy enough, and although motel was nearly full capacity at night, noise was minimal - other than some traffic noise and emergency sirens a few times. We had good water pressure and endless hot water, the toilet and tub/shower was clean and no mold or mildew visible in our bathroom/sink area and there were plenty of clean towels and washcloths for the two of us for our 3 night stay. It was a good location and value for the cost on the less busy...
Read morePlease read before NOT choosing this motel. (Kinda long) Firstly, when originally booking I thought all the sites were quoting per night rates, but the $80 for this one was for both nights of my stay. This place is $40 so let's adjust our expectations some.. but not much. My wife has worked with major hotel chains, I work in the customer service industry for 20 years. Our expectations are high.. but I'm cheap :-) Arriving for check-in was great. The entry way is large with plenty of room to pull up and park, meeting the front desk clerk was great, she was friendly, answered all my questions and explained the layout of the facility well. Getting to the room, honestly I was shocked by what I saw. Fairly recently remodeled rooms, microwave, fridge, an ac that isn't too loud and had the room at a very even 69 degrees and plenty of towels and extra blankets. Once overed the place and then the critical test. Hotel workers have a good trick for spying cleanliness in a room... Peel back the bedding from the corners of the beds. This reveals any infestation evidence, stains, signs of all kinds of things.. I did that here.. hospital clean. I'm like dang.. $40 a night AFTER taxes.. wow. If you don't wanna break the bank for a quick getaway in a room you only see a little bit each day, this is a solid choice. I read other reviews like the towels are small, there's no coat hanging closet, no continental breakfast blah blah. Dude.. it's $40.. what could you expect. And with the money saved eating a great breakfast somewhere like the red rooster nearby is practically free :-)
Pros: price . It's just cheap friendly staff on every shift every time we met them pretty close to Gatlinburg.. down in the heart of tons of things, close to the island, Dollywood and more. nice tv and other accomodations. everything looked clean, but a small spot in the shower corner.
Cons: no rehydrated breakfast outside entrances shampoos and soaps kinda suck:-)
Stay here if you wanna save money and aren't camping in your room...
Read moreWell let's see...where do I start...I'm laying here at this hotel as I type this. I booked this place online and upon arrival I waited forever to check in because the Internet was too slow for the hostess to check someone in in front of me. When I did get to check in I couldn't understand the hostess because she was mumbling. I got to room and it looked clean but smelled like a baby nursery. This room has two queen beds. They both have what looks and feels to be bed coverings made out of paper. They look dirty and I definitely didn't use them. All I have left to cover up with is a sheet. Went to front desk to get a real blanket but they were conveniently closed. The bed hurts my back and hips. The air conditioner sounds like a old VW beetle not to mention the paper thin walls that you can hear everything outside from street noise to people talking. Lastly it's so bright in the parking lot and the curtains won't cover up the light coming through the window. It's now 4am and not only is my night ruined but probably my day from lack of sleep. Another thing, I feel something crawling on me and my skin is itching, can't tell if it's bed bugs or the low quality soap bar I used here. The shower and sink take forever to get warm also. I wouldn't pay $20 to stay here. Rip off. It's bad. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere you can actually get a good night's sleep. It's not worth your money. Trust me,Sleep in your car and you would be better. It's a nightmare like Bates motel. Someone didn't tell the truth about these reviews. I wish I had...
