This is very high quality ice cream and makes it worth it to make a special trip out to get it. I went with my three kids and we got salted caramel, apple cider sorbet, muddy buddy, and mint chocolate chip. The Muddy Buddy and salted caramel flavor were my favorites though I didn't do much taste testing; my picky 9-year old son regretted his mint chocolate chip selection after trying the Muddy Buddy flavor even though he taste-tested it before ordering it. Since it was the grand opening, we got special VIP passes to get the ice cream for free so I didn't pay attention to the prices. But the taste is comparable to the high quality gelato that we had when we visited France so I would definitely be willing to pay for Rockwell ice cream in the future - it is far superior compared to grocery store ice cream. It is so rich and creamy so a small amount goes a long way in satisfying me. The customer service was very friendly and patient with letting customers try out the different flavors which seem to be quite unique. Because the location is on Regent Street, parking is a little bit tricky but if you're already attending a show at Eccles, it would totally be worth it to grab some ice cream before or after a show. It's also right across the street from City Creek Mall so it would be totally worth it to make the short walk to get some ice cream if you're there. Better yet, take a special trip on Trax or bikes just to grab some Rockwell ice cream. This ice cream is worth cheating on your diet. And there's plenty of seating at this location which is clean and cute - nice date place to stop...
Read moreFirst off I want to say that I really liked the ice cream. The nutty buddy was so good. So why might I give it two stars you ask. The scoops were soo small and soo expensive. They were like half the size of a baskin-robbins scoop. They were very stingy on their scoops, also as if it was half a scoop, but they were regular scoops. But in addition to that, two of my kids wanted the same flavor so I said well I will just order a double scoop then and I can separate the two, I will save a few dollars that way. The guy in charge didn't seem to mind.
The girl that was answering to the guy in charge heard me say this and purposefully smashed and pushed the two scoops together over and over. It was like she was annoyed by this. I don't understand the problem if they were ordering the same flavor. I could have separated the scoops myself but she purposefully pushed and smashed them together. Eventually, when he told her to separate them she had to then try to pull them apart.
For two doubles and a single we paid about 25 dollars. Did the ice cream taste good, yes! Was it worth it, nah. Not for a rude girl and not for teeny tiny expensive scoops. I am sure I can find good ice cream elsewhere.
NOTE: If you are driving your car here it is almost impossible to find parking. You may have to drive around the block several times or do as we did and park in a ten minute zone, run in, run out and...
Read morehi so this place has a very corporate america office building vibe to it and made me and my friends feel very uncomfortable. it felt fake almost. we waited in line and ordered and the employee said it would be about 5 minutes for the pizookie. we waited 10 which is fine, but they didn't even heat it up. like the kid gave it to us and the ice cream wasn't melted or anything and said "careful the skillet is still hot" when it in fact, wasn't. the cookie was hard as a rock and broke my spoon. it tasted old and was VERY crunchy. thankfully we finished it because it was 11 bucks. the plain vanilla ice cream was alright though. the "roasted" pecans they put on top were not roasted in the slightest.
my friend got the honey comb ice cream and wasn't even able to finish the first bite because it was so awful. i tried it and it tasted like cough syrup and had to spit the rest out.
yea well anyway try it out for yourself it may just not be my cup of tea. lots of people do like it and the employees were pretty nice! but i am not gonna recommend it especially for...
