I have yet to be disappointed by this place. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to people's preferences.
I have had several dishes here including the Garlic and Black Pepper Chicken, the Brisket Bowl, the Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew. All have been delicious. The portions are very large and extremely filling, but not heavy. Most entrees come with your choice of either white or brown rice.
Pad See Ew has to be my favorite. It has a really flavorful sauce, carrot slices, cabbage, noodles, and the meat of my choice.
The Brisket Bowl comes with a very large slice of beef brisket, slow cooked to perfection, potatoes, carrots, rice, and some kind of creamy secret Thai sauce that is both savory and sweet at the same time. It's almost like cinnamon-y and complements the beef well. The portion is enormous and could be shared, but you won't want to! On a cold winter or rainy day, this is a great hearty meal to warm-up.
The Garlic and Black Pepper Chicken has a peppery and garlicky broth with carrots, cabbage and tender chicken. It is available as part of a combination plate, or as it's own entree with rice.
The location is not huge, but is VERY clean, and they facilitate take-out and food...
Read moreThis downtown Thai restaurant has a lot going for it.
Pros: -This restaurant has some of the best customer service I have recieved in years! The appreciation they show their customers is top notch. I have visited several times and it is always a warm and inviting atmosphere.
-Their food always has a fresh taste to it. I have tried their pork, brisket, and chicken. The pork and brisket practically melt in your mouth. The chicken has always been well cooked, never dry.
On the weekdays they have a hot table with ready made food in addition to their normal menu which can help you get in and out fast if you don't have much time for lunch.
They are available on door dash as well if you want food delivered.
Cons: Their hours of operation vary, but this is only a very small con because many of the downtown food places have varied hours of operation.
Overall this restaurant easily deserves the 5 stars I have given it.
Note: The picture is of their masuman brisket a la carte. Also, try their...
Read more2 weary travelers. After a day of travel and whimsy, a father who hadn't eat all day and who had promised his 10 year old daughter an ice cream. Enter Shim, the only late night dining establishment open in Salt Lake City on a Saturday night. The Tom Kah Kai soup was just the thing to sooth the hunger and soul and the red curry was perfect to refill an empty stomach. Watching this hard working family (including their 10 year old daughter who was holding things down as a presence in the restaurant) is giving it all on a nightly basis and the love can be found in everything they do. The cherry on top was the owners offering the traveling fathers daughter, their own daughters ice cream bar. These folks have open hearts and arms. Just go see them and eat at Shim as often as possible. Would recommend 💯. Thank you Shim...
