Flamin' Phó & Sushi Bar — Restaurant in San Diego

I don’t know why I didn’t leave a review sooner! We’ve been a regular here at Flamin’ Pho & Sushi Bar three years ago while we were living in downtown, and we haven’t had a chance to go back until today, but we are so glad we did. We saw Sabrina, who’s been a familiar face when we used to come here on a weekly basis, and it was always a good sign that shows how much the business cares about their staff! She welcomed us graciously and when I gave her pictures of our previous go-to orders (I had forgotten their names), she stated them right away in the blink of an eye.

We ordered the Salmon Sunrise Roll, Cherry Blossom Roll, Saigon Spicy Chicken, and we were immediately taken back to nostalgic times because the quality remained impeccable and delicious! We moved to Kearny Mesa where there is an endless array of Japanese and Asian restaurants and have tried them all, but we kept craving Flamin’ Pho, and we were so satisfied with our meal. I’m very glad we came back and everything was perfect as we remembered it.

Our server Hayley helped us out at the end, and she was such a friendly and bubbly waitress that I felt like we have known each other for a longer time! We chatted about the many legitimate Japanese treats at the front of the restaurant for sale and her time in Japan, and I couldn’t help but think that the service here and the food was top-notch.

Keep it up, Flamin’ Pho & Sushi Bar! We will make the trek and come back for sure!

My wife and I stopped in late into their service for a bite to eat. I ordered the kantsu sando and my wife ordered orange chicken; we also shared an order of chicken gyoza. The gyoza was great, my sando was pretty decent (although the chicken was a touch undercooked, more on that later) and my wife loved her side of rice. The big problem arose from my wife's meal, which gave her a violent reaction a few hours later. We suspect that her chicken was undercooked as well, as her symptoms aligned with moderate food poisoning.

Perhaps this was an anomaly, but it's definitely something that should be noted - check your food if you order chicken here

The atmosphere of the dining space was clean and very well organized - my wife and I were very comfortable during our time here, and our waitress was amazing! She alone gave this place it's second star and she deserves 10 stars herself. She was the only waitress there and was doing everything with speed and efficiency. She was just a cool person too, very accommodating and friendly.

We'd visit again just to see how she's doing and to try some of their sushi, which we weren't able to get during our first visit.

I will update my review after we visit again (which we fully plan on doing when we're in town again), but will keep this up as a word of caution to...

Flamin' Pho & Sushi has quickly become my favorite place to go for both sushi and a bowl of pho at any time of day. The quality of food here is amazing and its by far my favorite place to grab fresh salmon, yellowtail, and tuna as well as sushi rolls amongst other items on the menu. I also LOVE their pho bowls as well. The restaurant is very clean and looks extremely nice, service here has always been great, the servers are always checking in on tables making sure that everything is fine as well as accommodating for anything else we need.The entire experience from start to finish (checking in with the host to being seated, being served, and being extremely satisfied from all the delicious food at the end) is nothing less than excellent. All in all i don't see myself going anywhere else regularly for my sushi and pho needs since nowhere else has the same quality of food and great prices. If you haven't tried this place out, do yourself a favor and come here the next time you're craving some great service and delicious eats you will not regret it. I love this place and i highly recommend anyone and everyone to go in and enjoy. and if you don't believe try it out and let the quality and experience speak for itself.
