This reviews a bit different than my usual sadly. My partner and I stopped by for a quick martini on Saturday afternoon. As the bartender on duty (named Brendan I believe) began preparing our drinks, he went into an extremely racist tirade about Indian people - an incredibly upsetting experience for us, as we are both of Indian American descent. He said “our people” always sat in those seats, made a comment that “our kind are taking over,” and mocked us by saying, “I don’t understand when you people say - dirka dirka,” while making gestures and noises to mimic an accent we don’t even have. (For context, we’re American and speak English fluently and clearly.) We didn’t make a fuss really, told him what he said was extremely racist, and left before we could try the drinks. A few other patrons left with us, visibly uncomfortable with the situation and the bartender’s remarks. I would avoid this place tbh if this is the kind of...
Read moreIt was 3:30pm on a Saturday in the heart of SF and anxious to relax at a nice bar with a cocktail and perhaps a bite to eat. Unfortunately, all the hot spots around Union Square open at 5pm. Very nice bartender but was quite surprised to be given a very tart iced lemon cocktail instead of a tangy green lime affair since I ordered a Gin Gimlet. I didn't mention my disappointment and I tried to enjoy it but it was just too tart. OK - not a catastrophe. But when I then inquired about the availability of some munchies like peanuts or popcorn or the like and was told that there was no food at all I then began to wonder how this place warranted 5 stars. Certainly 3 and perhaps 4 but definitely, not a...
Read moreThe atmosphere and the ambiance was beautiful- brick walls, lanterns and wood made you feel like you were in a very cozy space away from the craziness of the city. Not only is the staff friendly but they make incredibly delicious, well balanced and unique drinks. My first time here and it’s officially one of my favorite spots in SF.
If you’re a mezcal lover - highly recommend their drink “some like it hot” passion fruit & citrus with a spicy sesame seed oil on top is out of this world! But tried a few others and you can’t go wrong with any of the drinks on their menu.
Overall wonderful time, thank you for a memorable...
