I am deeply disheartened to share what was, without a doubt, the most appalling dining experience of my life at Via Vento. From start to finish, the service was a catastrophic failure, anchored by the shockingly rude and disrespectful behavior of our waiter. His dismissive attitude, condescending remarks, and outright hostility left us questioning whether we were unwelcome guests in what is meant to be a place of hospitality.

As if the poor service wasn’t enough to ruin the evening, what followed was truly alarming. I ordered the Bolognese dish, which seemed innocent enough, until I became violently ill shortly after finishing it. I endured an excruciating 12 hours of sickness, leaving me to question whether the waiter’s blatant disdain for us extended beyond his demeanor and into the preparation of my food. While I can’t definitively prove a connection, the thought alone is disturbing and should give anyone pause.

It’s particularly unfortunate because the ownership has clearly invested effort into creating a quaint and charming atmosphere. However, no amount of ambiance can compensate for the risk of such severe illness and the abject failure of basic hospitality.

For those considering a visit to Via Vento, I strongly urge you to think twice. Dining out should be an enjoyable and safe experience, not a gamble with your health and dignity. Until serious changes are made to address their staff’s behavior and food safety standards, I cannot recommend this restaurant in...

I am screaming ROMANCE and elegance from my expereince at Via Veneto!

Try to look for street parking but valet is $7

So to start I have to say i absolutely fell in love with Franchsesco's accent and how attentioned to detail he was. He brought out the best suggestions and the most delicious subsitution for a vegetarian! I bet i could of asked him to just record him speaking the alphabet and he would of done it in a jiffy! Btw- i must of raved about his amazing accent at least 10x that people in our party must of thought i was crazy!

Prosecco - how can you go wrong with Prosecco especially to start the evening! The group seemed to really enjoyed the Black Squid Tagliolini with baby Calamari and Bottarga Uni Spaghetti dish and I personally really enjoyed my Ravioli tasting with the - spinach, tomato was DEEELICIOUS! , Ricotta, Di zucca Pumpkin in butter Sage. My Mushroom Risotto was Ahhhmazing that i had to save it for the following day just so i can savor it a bit longer!

Now my favorite part of the evening : DESSERTS!! They absolutely did not disappoint, i almost fell off my chair on how delectable every single dessert i tried this faithful evening!

profiteroles- ahhhhh melt away ...just melting panacotta - I could of had at least 10 of these!! tiramisu - THE perfect tiramisu ! sbrisolona - nutella short bread cake- How can you go wrong with Nutella!??! TELL ME HOW!?

eccoci qua (echo chi qua) means "here you go"...BOOm Thank me later after you give this...

My first time at the beautiful Via a Veneto last night. It was our 29th wedding anniversary and we were celebrating with four nights at Shutters On The Beach and dinners in a variety of different restaurants in Santa Monica. First, we are a well travelled couple. Second, I am Italian and a foodie. Dining at Via Veneto was like being in Italy. Entire staff is Italian... charming, sweet and very warm. Service was impeccable. The food was spectacularly delicious. My husband had the burata, heirloom tomato and prosciutto to start and veal Milanese for his entree. My appetizer was a duo of fresh salmon tartare and fresh ahi tuna tartare. Both tartare were made with olive oil and was very delicious and so fresh. My entree was a porcini veal scalloping. It was mouthwateringly divine. For dessert we split the panna cotta with fresh berries and Nutella. Everything was wonderful. The restaurant itself is beautifully lit be three chandeliers and the room is intimate. One of the nicest things about Via Veneto is that it’s not noisy. One can have a conversation without shouting. We just loved it and will be coming back soon. You must make a reservation. This restaurant is a little gem and is always booked. Be warned however, it is not an inexpensive restaurant but I believe that you get what you pay for and Via Veneto...

Via Veneto in Santa Monica is my go-to spot for a romantic dinner, and it delivers every single time. The service is warm, attentive, and authentically Italian—the kind where the staff remembers you and genuinely cares that your evening is perfect. The food is just as consistent. My staple order is the lobster pasta, which almost every other restaurant gets wrong—it’s overcooked, rubbery, or lost in sauce—but here it’s perfection every time. On a recent visit, I started with burrata and prosciutto, which was fresh, creamy, and balanced, the kind of simple dish that shows off true quality ingredients. Another favorite is their ravioli of the day. They usually feature three different varieties, and each one is delicate, flavorful, and perfectly cooked—never heavy, always satisfying. The fish soup is another standout; it’s made to order, never sitting in a pot, and you can taste that freshness in every spoonful. The atmosphere is pure old-world romance. Chandeliers cast a warm glow that makes every guest look like a movie star—fitting, since you’ll often spot real ones dining here. It’s intimate without feeling stuffy, glamorous without being pretentious. A Santa Monica staple for decades, Via Veneto is one of the few highly rated spots that still feels like an underrated gem.

Was searching for Italian restaurants in Santa Monica and saw this had so many raving reviews so decided to try it. This place was originally a $$ on Google reviews. When we got there it was definitely a $$$. The prices are very steep and you don’t get enough food for the price. The trio of ravioli as a starter is a good choice if you’re indecisive and really want to try a little of everything. The butternut squash was the best of the three. Also ordered a filet mignon. It doesn’t come with a side so be prepared to fork out a little more to add some mediocre potatoes as a side dish. I ordered the filet medium rare but it came out medium - medium/well. I hate sending food back but if I’m paying so much for a steak then I need it cooked correctly. When it returned it was more rare than medium rare. I didn’t want to complain so I ate it. The server was very attentive and quite knowledgeable when it came to wine.

Very nut friendly establishment except for dessert. A very romantic candlelight dinner experience, but you're definitely paying for it. Bolognese, Vongole, tiramisu totaled around $95 after tax and tip. Opener was bread, olive oil, and olives that were a nice palette cleanser. The Bolognese fettuccine was fantastic, perfectly cooked and paired with a flavorful meat sauce. The Vongole had a decent amount of clams (maybe 15-20 pieces) and paired well with the light olive oil. Portions were generally on the smaller side - enough for maybe 4-5 bites per person for 2. Service was polite to a point. However, preference was being given to the table next to ours that was ordering multiple courses, wine, and expensive dishes. It seemed that after we refused the wine menu, we were put on the backburner. Almost no one looked our way for water refills or an extra utensil.
