Holy Guacamole is located on Main Street and Ashland Avenue in Santa Monica. The parking situation is something else typical for Santa Monica. There’s hardly any street parking, and if you want to park in the lot, it’s a paid parking lot that costs $1.25 per hour. And the fun part? You get to take in the local “views,” like homeless individuals lying on the street passed out. There’s also a Starbucks across the street and an e-bike store right next door, so there’s plenty to check out while you wait for your food from Holy Guacamole. They have a big menu with plenty of options, and they’re best known for their breakfast burrito. I didn’t personally get the breakfast burrito big mistake. I went with the carne asada burrito (no tomatoes), and I definitely should’ve gone with their specialty instead. The carne asada burrito barely had any meat, and it didn’t come with cheese, sour cream, guac, or anything to tie it all together. It had carne asada, rice, some purplish beans, cilantro, and usually tomatoes, but overall it just lacked flavor. Honestly, I wouldn’t get that burrito again if I ever came back here. The place itself is small, with a few tables inside and a few more outside along the street. It’s not the cleanest spot I’ve ever seen, but they make do with what they have. The food was pretty mediocre nothing special and the service was just average. The person who took my order didn’t seem too thrilled to be there either. The overall vibe is what you’d expect from a small spot near the beach in Santa Monica. Would I come here again? Probably not. Would I recommend trying it once? Sure, it doesn’t hurt to give it a shot. Still, if you’re looking for something with real flavor, I’d suggest going...
Read moreWorst fish tacos I've ever had. The fish was mostly bread, and when I tasted the fish it almost made me gag. The taste and texture were off, and it resembled frozen fish you get at a dollar store.
We also got the super burrito with al pastor, and it was a disgrace to Mexican food. The rice tasted like instant rice. The beans tasted canned and not fresh. The tortilla was tasteless and chewy. Guacamole was bland. The al pastor was burned and bland. See a theme here? It's all bland! I don't have a better word for it. It's all just so boring and uninspired.
They have no aguas frescas. They have horchata, but it's from a machine and not homemade. It tasted like a liquefied churro; it was way too sugary and sweet. We couldn't finish it.
And the restaurant itself is awful. It's really narrow, feels cramped, and it feels dirty. We asked to dine in and still got our order in a take bag. No tap water, only $3 bottle water. No restrooms for customers!!! How can you not have restrooms for customers? This alone will make sure I never go back. Bland food, yet charge way too much. Do not come here. Not...
Read moreAs a customer for a couple of years I have always ordered the same thing. The staff has always been friendly except this little fat woman who may be the owner. I had always received free chips ($1.00 worth) with my order and in return I have always tipped well. The fat little lady was working the cash register this past Sunday and said that she needed to charge me for the chips and these were never free. I canceled my order and left. Its the principle of the issue. If she's willing to risk losing a customer over this than so be it. I can order breakfast any where in SM. As a business owner or manager she had always failed to acknowledge me as a customer, never said hello, or thank you for your business. If I have done something wrong or didn't want me in her establishment then she should say so. I took this as personal issue and have already told 3 other regulars not to go there. They will tell their friends and their friends will tell their friends. Fat lady if your reading this then learn some simple customer service. It will do...
