Pedal or Not Electric Bike Tours — Local services in Santa Monica

Barb was an exceptional host and guide, ensuring our comfort and sharing fun and engaging information with a really nice demeanor throughout the tour. The bikes were really nice, and Barb attended to our maximum comfort by outfitting us with appropriately sized bikes, helmets, and windbreakers. Her comprehensive tutorial on operating the bikes, coupled with ample practice time, prepared us well for the maximum enjoyment during our tour.

One member of our group, who lacked confidence as a bike rider, received Barb’s patient and supportive instruction. When it became clear the comfort level just wasn’t there and the couple decided not to participate, Barb made it super easy for them to back out and immediately processed a credit without hesitation.

The tour’s length and content were ideal. We trusted Barb’s recommendations for photo opportunities, and she adeptly captured several cherished group photos. When we were behind schedule and needed to adjust our itinerary, she seamlessly accommodated my request to visit the Venice Canals instead of Muscle Beach.

For our entire encounter, Barb was accommodating, super pleasant, engaging and professional down to every detail. So much fun. By tour’s end, I found myself thinking how much fun it would be to live in Santa Monica and own an electric bike!

I recommend this tour! Barbara onboarded us and made sure we understood how to use the electric bikes, and Rose was our tour guide. The timetable was exact from start to finish and we completed it all, even as we needed to drop off someone unwell midway through.

This was my first time on a throttle electric bike (a Pedego) and I loved it! Takes a little getting used to (rear heavy), then the added power is great.

Aside from some time among traffic just to connect from and to the shop, plus waking our bikes through the beautiful Venice canals, the route was mostly on the dedicated bike paths of Venice and Santa Monica, which wave and twist pleasantly. The stops were well spaced apart and each stop was at an interesting location with information being relayed to us (and shown historic photos).

Our tour guide, Rose, was great, keeping an eye on us but giving us our space (basically not treating us like kids, which I appreciated). One of the group was unwell and she found the prefect spot for them wait for us while we finished. At one point I almost tipped my bike over while walking it (heavy!) and she was very understanding.

I had the pleasure of spending the morning with Barb, a 40 year native to the area. Pedal or not was very easy to find. Barb provided water and a restroom and also had a safe place to leave personal belongings that I didn't need on the bike. There is space on the bike if you did want to take things with you, you could. She also offered sunscreen (and I should have taken her up on it as i now have a sunburned face) She did a quick but thorough explanation on how to use the bike and even had us all do a couple test runs to make sure we were comfortable. I appreciated the way she warned about certain upcoming terrain or things to expect but also put me at ease letting us know none of it will be bad. She was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of fun facts. We stopped for several awesome photos and she even had a very big surprise at muscle beach. Barb has a laidback fun personality that made the tour extremely enjoyable! I have been on several ebike tours in different cities and this was definitely a favorite!
