The Georgia Tasting Room — Restaurant in Savannah

Ive been here a several times for wine tasting and had always recommended it to friends and visitors. I brought my boyfriend here as he had never been and we were told to come back in an hour because they weren't doing tastings at the time. I asked if we should call first and was told the phone doesn't ring but come back in an hour they could probably do a tasting then. They said we could buy a to-go drink but the wine slushies taste terrible (way too sweet) & we wanted to do a tasting. So we waited and walked all the way back there in an hour to be told they had a big group coming in and couldn't accommodate us. It was odd since the place was basically empty at the time and tastings are quick in my experience. Never once explained if or how we could make a reservation in advance so we could actually get service next time. Everytime I've done a wine tasting we've bought at least one bottle of wine usually multiple. It had become a tradition every time my parents visited that we go here and buy multiple bottles of wine for me and for them to bring back. I like to support local businesses and local wineries but I won't be back. Its not worth the risk of wasting all that time to not be served. Space def could have been a bit bigger or more organized but the staff was pretty on top of it when you walked in. Once we got to the tasting tho the guy serving us really disappointed me. First he serves me the wrong thing. Something I didn’t even mark. Which was fine. It just meant I got an extra tasting. My biggest disappointment was when we got home I realized that he sold me a wrong bottle. I spent $100 in there on 3 bottles of wine and koozies, to come home and see that instead of the wine that I liked the most (the cherry cab) there was a whole different bottle. One I didn’t even taste. And it’s not like I can just drive back down and get a refund or exchange since we were down there for my birthday and live outside of Georgia almost 3 hours away. That server just seemed way too all over the place and not focused at all on us while serving us. My fiancé and I stopped in for a wine tasting while on our anniversary trip to Savannah, and it ended up being the absolute highlight of our entire visit. Every suggestion felt personal, like advice from a friend who really wanted us to have the best experience possible.

It’s rare to come across people who make such a lasting impression, but Nikki and Eli did exactly that. Their kindness, energy, and expertise turned what could have been just another stop into the most memorable part of our trip.
