The food is mediocre at best, and the specials are not special. Ordered the Arancini balls (app special) and they came out cold, my guess they were about 50° in the center. The sauce they served in was ice cold... Asked if this is how they were supposed to be served and they said no. They said they would redo them for us, ironically all they did was take the two untried on the plate, and fairly certain they microwaved them for a few seconds then popped them in the broiler to crisp up and put them back in the ice cold sauce, and rather than firing a new order. Edible yes, would I eat them again? No. They we basically a mush pile at that point and hoped the Branzino special was going to be better. This is when the disappointment became slightly comical. The fish was so overdone on one side. I couldn't break it but I wasn't going to send it back just for them to possibly reconstitute it with some water and re-serve it to me. The broccolini was the best part, and that's not saying so much, and would have rather they just served it raw. The bed of risotto served on was so overly seasoned with lemon juice, the acid had begun to break down the risotto and just turned it into a pile of mush, and also overcooked. Possibly my expectations were to high, definitely not what was expected.
It always troubles me to leave a negative review, as I am typically able to resolve any issues while at the location, this time however it was late and I did not have the energy to discuss it with the host/manager when he stopped by the table to ask "Is every ok?" The service was ok so I...
Read moreI’ve been to Tommy V's Urban Kitchen and Bar twice now and both times were very memorable experiences. The first time was a few years ago when we were getting in late from our flight from the Midwest. We were starving and we walked into the first restaurant we saw. It was Tommy V’s. We were greeted by Sasha! A friendlier, more helpful restaurant professional does not exist! And the atmosphere couldn’t have been more comfortable. I wish I could remember what my better half had, but I know she was crazy about it. As for me, I will never forget the Lasagna! Ok, you might say “lasagna is lasagna”, but NO, not here. It was beyond the usual dish most Italian restaurants offer. The sauce was exquisite and the cheese… oh yeah! Our second visit was just a few days ago while visiting family in the area. Again, we were not disappointed! And again, Sasha made sure we were well taken care of. All appetizers and the four meals were perfectly prepared and well presented. We all shared from several plates of both pasta and seafood. The photos speak for themselves. If you’re in Scottsdale, this place is an absolute great eating experience. Simply outstanding! Oh, and ask for Sasha if he’s available. Tell him Stevo...
Read moreWe were supposed to go to a vegan place, 24carrots in downtown Tempe for lunch on our last day in town. Our timing got all out of whack and we ended up randomly choosing a restaurant in downtown Scottsdale for lunch at 1:30 in the afternoon. That restaurant was Tommy V’s at the entrance of downtown Scottsdale. And what a stroke of serendipity that was. We were treated to an excellent late lunch with great food and wonderful service that I wanted to definitely highlight.
Our waiter was excellent in his recommendations and attention to us. We started off with some bread warm off the oven. It was soft and tasty. For entrees, we ordered a lentil soup and a pear salad for me, a eggplant torta for my wife and a ravioli for the little guy. Each of the dishes was fantastic in its own way. The little guy polished off his ravioli. I loved my warm soup and a nice salad and my wife definitely enjoyed her eggplant. The waiter offered a complementary cannoli for the little guy who was thrilled and walked away happy and telling me how much he liked the place. If you are in the neighborhood, consider this a recommended place from me. Loved...
