Delicious dishes with plenty of vegetarian options and very affordable. Perfect for a quick lunch break from work or touristing while downtown from a local business.
Pro tips (as someone who easily eats there 3-5x a week):
The split garbanzo, black-eyed pea (Thursdays only), red bean, and spinach choices are particularly tasty. When available, the eggplant and mustard green options are also very good. The daily vegetarian specials are a bargain, coming with a free soda. Friday's special is your choice of a veggie entree -- ask for the half-and-half to try two for the price of one. Tuesday and Wednesday have rotating specials If you're watching your calories and don't want a ton of rice, ask for half rice and half salad (lettuce).
In response to others' comments that I noticed: The owner-cook can come across as being a little prickly on initial visits (comparisons to Seinfeld's soup nazi are made on occasion, and perhaps not completely off-base) -- particularly if there's a long line waiting behind you. But he's also incredibly generous and loyal to his customers. Having eaten there for the past 7 years or so, I definitely consider him one of the few recognizable, consistent, and friendly faces in the neighborhood. My suggestion, as with anyone, is to be polite, ask questions, and keep the line behind you in mind. If you're nervous about freezing up, ask the person in front/behind you for tips/suggestions -- chances are good that...

I really like the food provided by Zum Zum because of Vegetarian options and I am an Indian enjoy eating spicy food and Rice.
I have been visiting Zum Zum frequently as it's 2 blocks up from my work place.
But today I had a shocking service at Zum Zum.
I placed an order for Veg Combo and mentioned the 2 different veg curries. Normally they do half and half of the curries mentioned.
But when I was billing the order , it was $10.57 and normally it is $5.57. I was checking with the cashier why it's $10.57? The person who serviced me really got annoyed and rudely threw my order in the TRASH.Such a shocking scene...and was shouting that you didn't say it properly. He shouted on top of his voice saying whether you need food say Yes or No..
Disgusting behavior I have noticed till now. I have never experience such bad customer service anytime in my life...
I recommend people to visit there if not bothered on Customer Service. Worst way to treat the customers. A person should respect everyone and have the basic humanity . Never in my life will visit...
Read moreI had the worst customer service experience of my life at this place. If you don't value self-respect, you can visit this place. We spent over $60 on food, but the person on cash was consistently rude to us. We were ordering food and he started shouting leaving us uncertain that we are committing some crime by ordering more food from him. If someone asks fork or cold drink after ordering food he starts shouting. He serves food in such a way that he's offering the finest food in the entire USA, which is far from the truth. And if he will not serve food, peole will starve to death. I didn't see tortillas in a desi restaurant before and this credit goes to Zum Zum that they don't make authentic bread as it's impossible to not have desi bread in a desi restaurant. Moreover, rice was also full of oil. We should also accept our mistake that we didn't see bad google reviews so fortunately we learned a lesson. We came at Seattle for a trip and this guy...
