I disliked the caffe Umbria on West lake. Here are my reasons of 1 star review. Reason 1: when I enter to the coffee shop I did not smell the coffee and I expect that when entering the coffee shops i always like to smell the coffee. In this coffeeshop I did not only smell the coffee and also I mostly feel that I smelled the pastry and food. I expect always to smell the coffee. Second reason: I’m ordered the regular mocha with oat milk and I didn’t taste the mocha at all. It almost taste as chocolate with oat milk and less coffee. I like to taste more coffee and also chocolate rather than tasting almost less coffee. For the mocha coffee, I’m not expecting to taste less coffee and chocolate and I’m expecting to taste more coffee and also chocolate. Third reason: my brother got the Cortado coffee and when I tried it, I did not taste Kortado and it almost taste like macchiato coffee. My brother makes delicious coffee than you are. Your coffee is not delicious.
Fourth reason: I ordered the chocolate muffin, the chocolate muffin did not taste the chocolate at all and it almost taste the cinnamon muffin. I did not taste the chocolate at all. My mom ordered the chocolate croissant and it taste better than mine and I taste the chocolate in it. Over all, it’s cheap, but I will not recommend it. Chocolati cafe on greenlake is much much better than this coffee shop. I will give your mocha coffee one out of 10 and I will give the chocolate muffin...
Read moreI judge Cafe's by three things: Their house brand coffee and Mocha, Their food and whether it's made in house or resell and finally, The vibe
Cafe Umbria is a nice middle ground; a good pick-me-up for any tedious work day.
Coffee: Solid, I judge stores based on their Mocha and house-roast. Umbria is fair on both ends.
Baked goods: Macrina Bakery is the standard re-sell for most places in WA which is not bad, I enjoy Macrina but I prefer in house made items (a la kirkland bakery)
Food: solid small bite selection from wraps, croissants to subs. I can't tell if they're made daily here but they look like it and they taste really good. Great place for a 30min lunch.
Vibe: super chill, recaptures the Grey aesthetic starbucks uses but in a way where its so welcoming that it's like you're in a boba shop. Matching white, Grey and black colors with lo-fi music and the sounds of coffee machines, fridges and cars. I really like the vibe.
Overall, solid spot to go to. If I'm in the area, I would definitely go here over starbucks. The only negative is pricing but it's in westlake so that's a given - don't go here everyday or you'll go thru the money you just made in 8 hours haha.
Stars don't mean anything - I recommend it (4 for Macrina...
Read moreDisappointed in the service here.
I ordered a scone and 12oz drip coffee. After paying I waited while the scone was warmed. Took about 5 minutes. I got my scone but no coffee. I waited another 5 minutes while espresso drinks were made and the other worker futzed around arranging pastries in the case. I stepped up to ask about my drip and was told it was coming, there's a line. An empty cup was sitting there waiting to be filled. The barista making espresso finished another latte picked up the cup turned around and filled my coffee from the drip thermos. Come-on its drip coffee the other worker could have easily filled it and handed it to me. Woulda taken 20secs. Instead she was rude and snobby.
I get each worker has a role and the espresso guy was doing coffees so he gets the coffee. She rings people up and does pastries. But workers can and should step up for good service and efficiency.
The pastry was very good, but they are brought in from a...
