My second time coming to Shortys as a Canadian tourist from Vancouver. I enjoyed seeing the old 1930s pictures of clowns from a circus vintage pictures. I enjoyed having there spicy Chicago dog, and Dumpster Dog by clown names by meals on the menu. They where very good to eat. I also had Hires Root Beer for a drink. There Root Beer was amazing and addictive to try compare to the Canadian version called Mug. I haven't had Hires since 1999 in Canada before it change to Mug. Nice place to relax and play some pinball. The bar tender was very nice to me amd my brother and telling us the popular meals to try. Thank you very much. The pinball machines where awesome to play and break records for fun to get some skills for practice. I have played Batman: Dark Knight back in Vancouver for practice every Sunday in a strip mall before traveling to Seattle to come to play the games. I liked the Canadian Vs U.S.A hockey pinball from 1977, and the Jaws games, and Camelot with the old school games. I would deafly come back again to play pinball and try there new meals on the menu. Thank you from a Canadian tourist.

Dive bar with sub par service. We heard they had specials so we came in. My boyfrind asked about their specials, the woman behind the bar replied they had none. Then when he went to inquire about beers the bartender rudely spat out "I'm the only one here", she was clearly annoyed. He ordered a beer and we got stuck for 2 rounds as he didn't have cash and it was a $10 minimum on the card though we didn't know that until the beer was poured and in front of him. If this is posted somewhere its not near the end of the bar closest to the door. Had she spoken that way to me I'd have been out the door in 2 seconds flat. You're in the service industry, its not the customers fault you're over worked and under staffed. Arent customers what help pay your bills? Don't be so rude to them. Would not recommend or return.

The moment you step inside, it’s clear this place was designed by someone who took clown college way too seriously—but in the best way possible. Pinball machines line the walls, blinking like a fever dream, and the whole place smells like nostalgia, cheap beer, and questionably legal carnival prizes. The bartender slides a Rainier across the counter with the efficiency of someone who’s been here since the grunge era. The real magic? The hot dogs. A perfect balance of guilty pleasure and genuine culinary achievement. Outside, Belltown morphs into condo hell, but inside, it’s an unapologetic time warp where skee-ball scores still matter, and no one judges you for ordering a second round of tater tots. Seattle changes. This place doesn’t. Thank god. ALL the bartenders were also super nice.

I am not the type to normally leave reviews, especially bad ones.

I’m a bartender and have been for years. Trust me, I have daytime fantasies about being as entitled, condescending and dismissive as the bartender I experienced today was able to act:

You’re living the bartender dream buddy, acting as terribly as possible knowing that it won’t affect your livelihood.

Bold move…

Tonight I experienced what I personally perceived as a hateful intolerance of gender. It’s unclear to me if the rudeness was because I was a woman or because I’m a straight woman, I’m still so perplexed by it all. Regardless of my own sentiments, I was at times singled out by gender and would heavily deem this place as an unsafe establishment for females, god only knows how they would treat multi pronoun individuals… (not sure if that’s the correct phrasing, but at least I’m trying to be more considerate than this bar).

Overall my review is:

poor customer service (friendly ONLY TO MALE PATRONS) sticky floors buttons in machines improperly serviced (& the staff does not care to even try to solve problems). dong friendly, that’s low key a bonus

Wow!! What an amazing dive bar with great beers and a vibey environment in Belltown. They had really down to earth bartenders who have worked there for 15+ years who had a lot of positive energy and passion about the business. I've been to several dive bars and this honestly made the best impression from all the ones I've visited in queen Anne, Capitol Hill, u district, Greenlake, and Belltown. This is a pretty cool place to grab a beer and hang out with friends, they have a ton of pinball machines and bowling games. NEGATIVE: Bouncer. Terrible. Be aware, bouncer is on a power trip and very disrespectful. The bouncer was extremely rude and unnecessarily aggressive to all my friends and even went as far as to threaten to punch my friend in the face and continued to make violent remarks out the door as we were leaving. Note: We were all sober and had came in just to grab a beer so this was not a drunken misunderstanding. I spoke to the bartender who was very understanding and genuinely concerned. I just want to say the bouncer is not a reflection on the establishment ALTHOUGH they should look into to replacing him. I've worked in the industry and bouncers are usually very firm and friendly, even the introverts. There is no need to be rude...

If you want an arcade and pinball experience done right, save your souls and go to Vidiot in West Seattle! I don’t know if the bartenders are being run into the ground or if they are all apart of a Debbie Downers fan club but the blonde with a beanie and blonde with dreads are about as exciting as a used napkin. The short blonde with a neon green beanie was rude and void of any positive energy until, what seems, a friend of hers showed up and she dropped what she was doing to go chat him up at the end of the bar. The neon green beanie woman had the patience of a house fly and handful of judgmental facial expressions that would scare a young child. The hot dogs are no better then any of the boiled sewage water dogs you can find anywhere else in the city and the dread lock blonde had about as much energy you could pump out of a dry well. Maybe the agenda of this measly dive bar is to hire woman with a docile, inpatient and rude attitude but it crash landed on my night and encouraged me to never recommend this “bar” again. Heard they are going under and I couldn’t imagine why lol. Hope these awful bartenders move on to greener pastures but they would probably spoil that too. Avoid this place, save your soul and pay the extra few dollars to go to Vidiot in...
