Well, well, well, let's rustle up some honest feedback about Nick's West Side. Time to dig into the pros and cons and give it to you straight, partner.
Starting with the pros, Nick's West Side does capture that small town vibe without much pizzazz. If you're yearning for a simple, no-frills experience, this place might hit the spot. The old photos of Sedona do add a touch of nostalgia, transporting you back to the days of the wild west. And hey, let's give credit where it's due—the Guinness burger exceeded expectations! It had a flavor that made you do a double take, and the beer cheese was a delightful companion to the burger. Yeehaw for tasty surprises!
Now, let's saddle up and address those cons. Hold onto your boots because here they come. Firstly, Nick's West Side has a policy that doesn't sit well with larger groups—no splitting checks for any posse over 6 people. So if you're wrangling up a big group, get ready to play "who owes what" at the end of the meal. Not the most customer-friendly rule, if you ask me.
Next up, the service. Oh boy, where do I start? The poor waitress we had seemed to be having a rough day. Maybe she was overworked or just having a rough ride, but her attitude left a lot to be desired. Poor thing was like a lone cowgirl in a bustling saloon, trying to serve everyone on her own. As a result, the service was slower than a tortoise in molasses. It took over an hour from the time you ordered to finally get your food on the table. That's a mighty long wait, partner.
So there you have it, the good, the bad, and the slow. Nick's West Side may offer a taste of the old west and some surprisingly delicious bites, but it falls short in terms of service and customer convenience. If you're up for a patient cowboy adventure and can handle a few bumps in the trail, give it a shot. Otherwise, you might want to mosey on down the road to find a more satisfying dining experience in Sedona. Happy...
Read moreAs newer, part-time residents in Sedona, my husband and I were looking for a casual restaurant that seemed a bit removed from the tourists and the often touristy vibe of some of the other restaurants in town. We tried Nick’s Westside last weekend for breakfast and again tonight for dinner and had awesome experiences both times. First…the atmosphere. This is a very comfortable, casual and old-school style restaurant…the kind of warm and family style place you might have grown up going to. Both times our server was Victor who is super easy-going and helpful and who happened to mention that the new owners come from Louisiana and make an awesome gumbo on Saturdays. Therefore, after thoroughly enjoying the breakfasts we had last Sunday ( by the way, breakfast is served all day ) we returned tonight for dinner and started with a chicken and sausage gumbo that was savory and delicious followed by slow cooked brisket barbecue with choice of several sides. We had crispy, delicious, onion rings, sweet potato fries, black beans, and coleslaw. The portions were generous and everything was satisfying. We even got to chat with the new owner for a little bit. We shared a bread pudding for dessert that was just the right amount of sweet, warm and comforting. Prices are reasonable and they have a pretty extensive menu so there is likely something for everyone. Whether you are a visitor or a local, I would definitely give this...
Read moreCame in the day before Easter, and as expected, it was crowded. However, there seemed to only be one man running the whole operation. Felt bad for him running around trying to seat multiple groups, serve multiple tables, whip up special drinks, clean tables, get refills, and cash people out all on his own. I didn't see a single other staff member the 3 hours I was there. I tried not to be too upset with the service, seeing he was a one man band, but we were here longer than we intended. It was a while to be seated with multiple open booths. The food took almost an hour to arrive, and we waited an akward amount of time for our bill. To top it, all of the food was pretty mediocre. The eggs didn't have a speck of pepper or salt on it. The burrito was drowned in sauces but still managed to be flavorless, the meat was dry, the fries needed condiments to be edible and weren't even room temp, and the pancakes don't automatically come with whip cream or butter. I felt bad asking for another refill, but the cups give about three sucks of a beverage, and then you're out. I don't know if they're just highly understaffed or majorly under prepared, but they should regroup before the next rush. I wouldn't eat here again on...
