This is a bit of a mega review and I would rate The Hudson as a 4.7 out of 5. Would I go again? Absolutely! I went here 3 times in the last week. Once in the late evening outdoors under the heaters, once at the bar, and once at a table inside. Each time good was very good to excellent. And service was good. This establishment gets very busy so servers and bartenders do not have any idle time. Visit number one in the evening out on the deck had a blackened shrimp bruschetta and funghi bruschetta, an Ahi Poké tower and a Steak and Blue chop salad. Bruschetta (4.9 out of 5) delicious, on crusty but chewy bread excellent! So good I ordered again on visit 2 Ahi poke tower 4 out of 5, excellent combination of race, chips and seaweed. Very good all ingredients complimented each other to make a very tasty dish. Only critique was the rice was too chilled and was a bit of a “puck” under the outstanding tuna and tasty seaweed - if the rice was closer to room temp and not fused together this is 5 out of 5 plate. Steak and blue chop salad was outstanding! Great mix of flavors textures and tasty ingredients. 4.8 out of 5 - possibly a touch salty but this was a home run. Visit number two sat at the bar and got the baked stuffed shrimp and the prime rib slider. Also got the bruschetta for the second time and it was just as good as the first time we had it. Shrimp was 4 out of 5 - big and healthy portion of shrimp with crab stuffing in a heavy rich cream sauce, I liked it but was a bit heavy. Pasta was cooked well, but slightly bland I spooned a bit of the cream sauce from the shrimp on it and it was great. Prime Rib slider (4 out of 5) ours was not as good as the one the folks next to us got - looks like it stayed under heat lamps a little bit longer. However, the meat was well spiced Pared well with a horseradish sauce - would get again. Visit 3 came for lunch and got fireball chicken wings and the Pastrami Ruben. Wings were 5 out of 5. They were big spiced while excellently and tasted phenomenal with a little extra sauce and homemade blue cheese. Kudos!! The pastrami Reuben was also delicious. It must’ve had half a pound of pastrami with mustard and sauerkraut. 4.5 out of 5 well I thoroughly enjoyed the combination. I would’ve also liked to have had the option to order more traditional with Russian/thousand island dressing. Also got the cookie with ice cream for desert. (4.5 out of 5) The Mango chili Rita was also excellent 5 out of 5
Note: Temperature of food was outstanding - everything we ordered came out piping hot and cooked to order. I love getting served freshly cooked, hot food and they Nailed it! - Kudos!
If you were in town and wants a laid-back atmosphere, tasty food and friendly service definitely...
Read moreThis was the worst dining experience of my life. We had hair in our food TWICE. My boyfriend and I made reservations here for our Anniversary and Birthday Celebration. We had visited in 2023 and were impressed with the views and service we received, so we were excited to return. We made the reservations months in advance and put detailed notes about it being a special occasion for us, requesting a table with a view. Unfortunately, dinner started with the two of us being sat at a 6-top on the patio by the door, where one of us had to choose to have our back turned to the magnificent view. This was a major bummer. Given the occasion, and notes we provided, we assumed they would have reserved a table for two…not 6. It took a long time for a waiter to greet us and take our drink order, and even longer for them to actually bring us drinks. The service was slow all around. When we finally got our food my boyfriend found a long hair in his mashed potatoes. We patiently waited for our waitress to return so we could alert her to the problem but she never came. We decided to flag down a different employee who grabbed the plate and went back to the kitchen without an apology. Finally our original waitress came back and saw my boyfriend was sitting with no plate, she asked “oh no, what happened?” We let her know their was a hair in his food and she apologized and went to check on the new plate. I wanted to be polite and enjoy my anniversary dinner with my boyfriend, so I waited to eat my food until his new plate arrived. This took over 20 minutes, so my food was cold by the time his food arrived. The staff apologized and tried to make up for it by bringing us a complimentary ice cream. My boyfriend was about to dig in when he stopped and started laughing, then asked me if he was crazy. He pointed at a long hair entangled in the ice cream. We were both in disbelief and couldn’t believe it was possible. We alerted our waitress of the issue, she too was in disbelief and sent the ice cream back as well. She apologized and offered a replacement ice cream, but at this point we were both disgusted at the situation and thoroughly grossed out to the point that we just wanted to leave. The manager came out to apologize and comped my boyfriends meal. Truthfully, I feel as though our entire meal should have been comped after such an awful experience. We were let down from the minute we were seated, and the experience just got worse the longer we stayed. It was a big let down for our birthday and anniversary dinner, to say the least. Sadly we will never ever return back to The Hudson and I cannot recommend it to anyone. There are far better...
Read moreThis is by far my favorite place to eat when I'm in Sedona. I live in Phoenix but come to Sedona often, and I always make it a priority to stop in at least once while I'm in town and as always amazing. I was just in a few days ago and I had the worst experience I've ever had here. Unfortunately. I ordered the croquette Madame along with spinach and artichoke dip at first before ordering the rest of it food just so I could feed my daughter quickly since she was super hungry. The artichoke tip came out with in 5 minutes but then 10 minutes later I asked for the sandwich was and the server kept telling me it should be out any minute. We waited patiently and still nothing after 20 minutes, so we ordered the rest of our food. The sandwich that was ordered with The artichoke dip didn't come out until the rest of the food that we had ordered which was over 20 minutes later and when I confronted the server about this all he had to tell me was that that specific sandwich takes the longest to make. If this was true I would have expected him to let me know ahead of time. As I mentioned I wanted to get something out fast for my daughter but nothing was ever said. We had three drinks each and the drinks were amazing but after I had told the server I was upset about the sandwich taking over 25 minutes to receive. He then basically stopped coming to our table. I saw him go to all his other tables in his section at least three times each before coming to us once. Not to mention that when we did get our food we had no silverware and had to wait until my girlfriend finally went up to the bar and asked for some silverware since we weren't getting any service at that point. Since the experience took so long, we ended up having to take the food to go. The bill came out to 160 and I still left a $30 tip, but I just thought it was important to leave this review in hopes that the next time the service is better, like it has always been in the past. Even though this was a very poor experience, I will be back, because one bad experience out of 20 isn't going to keep me away, the food and service here is typically above average, just not...
