We had the pleasure of purchasing a piece by Mr. Honshin at the Tlaquepaque village. We have lived at our home in Massachusetts for almost 5 years, and we have yet to find a work of art that felt special enough to put over our bed. The gorgeous piece, featuring seven blossoms and a beautiful owl with incredible textures, is perfection. It just spoke to us. His art is thought-provoking yet accessible, and I found his work to be a gorgeous blend of cultures. There's an undeniable Asian influence, but I see the Mesoamerican themes woven in. After a fun day of shopping in Tlaquepaque Arts Village, we found ourselves outside of Honshin Fine Art Gallery of Peace and stepped in on a whim. Krystal greeted us warmly and encouraged us to ring the bell on our way in. We were thrilled to meet and chat with Mr. Honshin as well. He is only in the shop on Sundays - lucky us! Together they described the gallery, and their history going back to many years spent in Seattle. Mr. Honshin went into great detail describing his vision for the piece he was working on as well as his enthusiasm for wine. We left having felt welcomed, and we look forward to seeing these new friends again...
