My kids were wanting subs and since this place was well reviewed we popped in- instant regret. You'll be greeted with an all caps sign indicating they have no public restroom on the door followed by rave-volume tunes (I'm a disabled vet with hearing loss so there's NO reason this should've been loud to me- I pity those with their full hearing going in here cause you'll definitely not leave with all of it 😆). The menu on the wall was obviously printed for ants as my kids with their little eagle eyes couldn't discern most of it, but what we did see was this pretentious nonsense I'm including a picture of. I laughed at that point and told them we'd go somewhere we could actually order what we wanted and we did. Even with the step up vs my cane the sub shop up the road had less built in ableism than this nonsense. If you have any food allergies/sensitivities, impaired vision, or sensory issues avoid this place at all costs.

I had to order at a kiosk right inside the front door. No one greets you. The kiosk takes forever even if there’s just one person in front of you. My food didn’t take too long, but when my phone went off and said my order was ready, it was not. I was asked if I was Dan. I said no. I’m pretty sure they have my sandwich to the other guy and threw mine together real quick. When I got it, I thought that was going to be a hot sub and it was cold. It was wrapped poorly and when I unwrapped it a pickle fell out onto the floor. All the meat was smushed together and it was covered in a mound of cold shredded mozzarella. No good for eating a sandwich. It wasn’t very big either for $12. See pictures. Disappointed. I should have listened to other people’s reviews.

The worst experience getting food ! Got my notification that my food was ready so I went across the street to pick it up .. yeah , 15 min later still wasn’t ready. The guys had to RE-DROP(gross) my fries because the subs still weren’t ready. When my order was finally ready , I got back to work and sat down to eat .. fries were completely disgusting ( threw them out ) , the microwaved meatballs ( I watched them throw them in the microwave) were like rubber and the cheesesteak was loaded with grease. I feel really bad for the guy working on the grill due to the amount of work he was doing compared to his “coworker” Even though I work across the street, I will not be returning.

So many people have raved over Dave's Cosmic Subs, but I'd yet to try anything there. Last night, we had the opportunity as we were in the area. Typically, we get subs at a local pizzeria here in St. Albans and the subs there are HUGE. Subs are also much larger at delis in Fairfax, Georgia, and Essex Junction that we've frequented. They also make their bread from scratch, so that is what I'm using as a comparison.

We used a delivery service, so I can't speak of the atmosphere in the shop. I know the delivery service was earlier than expected and incredibly professional. I appreciate that.

The Incredible Dave - it was good, but the use of shredded cheese on the sub was unexpected and different, but it worked. The veggies seemed scant compared to other sub shops. The bread is fantastic though.

The Super Dave - I wasn't expecting the corned beef and pastrami to be minced. It's hard to tell if both were really in there. The coleslaw was chunkier than expected, but it worked well. It just again seemed that the fillings were scant compared to competition.

Dave's Tasty Bacon - For a BLT, this was average. The tomatoes were lacking. One of the sandwich halves only had one half of a tomato slice. Bacon was crispy, but again the bread was the winner.

For the price, I was expecting more in terms of toppings and the length of the rolls. Spending $80 (included tip) on sandwiches, chips, and an order of fries came out high in comparison to the places...

just extremely frustrating experience. 10+ dollars for a sub that i’m “not allowed” to customize…and then when i do ask for things to be taken off of the sub (which is the only customization you’re allowed to ask for by the way), they don’t actually take anything off! i can’t help not liking tomatoes and onions, and i promise you my taste buds won’t like your sandwiches better “as is”. there’s barely any toppings on the sandwich in the first place as well, again not worth 10+ dollars for a sub that is barely even 6 inches long. you’re better off going anywhere else if you want a sub that you know you’ll end up eating. edit: ordered a pizza sub today hoping for the best since i can’t customize anything else. took one bite and my mouth is on fire, turns out there’s red pepper flakes COATING my “pizza sub” (which, by the way, is a sub roll cut into 4 pieces and layed flat with not even a tablespoon of marinara sauce and a pound of mozzarella cheese) and now i can’t even eat my lunch haha. at least put somewhere on the menu that this item has red pepper flakes on it please, it really ruined the sub for me and i wasn’t even aware that it...

Cosmic Dave's, where do I begin? I've lived in Vermont for 10 years, and I felt that Chittenden County was missing a delicious sub shop with many options. Cosmic Dave's really hit things out of the park. My boyfriend is from Chicago and he thinks the hot peppers here are the real deal, the different variety of sandwiches they make are all fabulous, and it tastes like your favorite big city deli sandwiches. The atmosphere of the shop itself is cool without being ostentatious or feeling inauthentic, and the owner is a super nice dude who spent a long time talking with us and the history of the place. I've gone back to eat here at least twice a week since we discovered it, it's that good. 10/10 A+ would munch again. Do yourself a favor and eat here if you're craving a good, real sandwich. My one critique is that there is so much to the sandwich that sometimes I have to re-stuff the toppings into the sandwich... but is that really...
