Yay! A needed improvement to Harrah's dining options! (5 stars) Boo! A loss(?) of a Breakfast Option. (3? stars) While it was great to see Brew Brother's take over the Food Court corner, they've always been a great option in Reno area, their attempt to fill the American River Café niche is, so far, disappointing. (granted 1 1/2 weeks into a soft open). A dinner and lunch place trying to fill the breakfast slot is alway tricky so I'm not expecting miracles, but some observations. 1. Bring the Coffee quickly ;-) at AR the Bus staff always took the beverage request quickly. 2. Its hard to screw up a breakfast menu. They haven't, the basics are there. The All American Breakfast remains on the menu but the (single) sourdough bread slice is very small, disappointed to find the potatoes are no longer hash browns but are deep fried potato cubes (I assume from a packaged frozen potato extrusion??) Eggs are eggs. (I like patty sausage but the meat options are fine) 3. Execution and consistency, matter. The "2 over easy" plate, Had breakfast here two days, over easy 1st day eggs were undercooked with clear runny whites, ordered medium next day over cooked with solid yolks and firm whites. My potatoes the 1st day were so-so, next day mine were over cooked hard and dry with blackened onions pieces, my wife's looked "properly" cooked. Yes AR was perhaps a bit "dated", and I acknowledge this is a soft start phase, just hoping Brew Brothers (and Harrah's) can make this dining approach work. It would fill a needed niche in the Stateline area.

Still in their soft opening phase, so take with a grain of salt: Blackberry Sage Martini - Delicious, addicting! Could be heavier on the sage, I barely tasted it at all. Still, I'll take three more! Cheese Curds- good. I mean, fried cheese, crunchy breading, how can you go wrong? But the cajun ranch needs more cajun seasoning. Smash Burger - EXCELLENT, no notes. Oh wait, one. Advertise that it's wagyu on the menu! I had to ask for pickles, which were crunchy and delicious. Fries - Meh, fine. Standard shoestring fries. Fish & Chips - Needs improvement on execution. The cod itself was excellent, but the breading slipped right off and there was a puddle of oil on the plate. My guest had to ask for lemons, malt vinegar, and was disappointed by the tiny coleslaw cup. Chocolate cake - GLORIOUS. I want to eat the whole cake like the chubby kid in Matilda. Serving, hosting, and bussing staff were friendly, despite obviously running into some issues. Manager was friendly and visible talking to tables. I'll definitely be back in a few weeks to see how they're doing! 🍻

We got there and notices plenty of open tables but the hostess explained they were short staffed and there would be a 10 min wait (perfectly acceptable). Got a beer at the bar and waited 7 mins total. Waiter was engaging and helpful. Ordered some apps that took a while to come out but we didn't notice b/c we were chatting it up. The main meals also took a bit, but again we were in no rush and never made mentions of it. However, someone must have noticed b/c the chef came out with a giant slice of chocolate cake and appologized for the wait. The food was quite tasty and reasonably priced (for a casino/hotel). Here's the thing: It seems like they are still going through the pains of getting good staff. Was told they had to let a few people go in the morning and that was the reason for the short staffing situation. And yet the staff there are still trying to do the best they can.

Last night at around 12:40am. We were told the wait time was 25 min however other people were sat immediately that came after us. We didn’t mind as we used the time to look around the casino, however we were sat in the back were the servers put in the orders & by the doors were it was cold, it seemed very odd being that there was so many other tables open. we didn’t get our waters for about 15 min after we sat down. We also asked for a soda that we never got. After such weird treatment we decided to ask another waiter for a box to go after getting our cold fries since we were particularly sitting 1 inches away from the other servers. our waiter was no where to be found, so we went up to the front to pay and the host last night was extremely rude and said for us to go back and wait for our server. I replied and said we can’t find her so can you please go find her giving her my card, being that there was 3 host at the host stand. Our friends was also waiting on us and we just wanted to pay but the host made it extremely uncomfortable and complicated for no reason. She could’ve taken my card and helped me. after I said if she could be the one to look for her as we weren’t not going back to our cold abandoned table. The blonde host replied with “why are you being like this” with an attitude. I was confused when I was well composed with my boyfriend, wanting to pay and leave. My boyfriend and I left shocked and disappointed by the immature comments the host said and overall mistreat, we are a Mexican couple and we are not sure if it was because of that but it left a...
