This was our first visit to PF Changs. We were downright delighted with our experience. The service was amazing. When our server found out it was our first visit, she informed the manager and we were given a free lettuce wrap appetizer. This was so generous to start out with. We ordered several dishes. These were dishes we were familiar with. That being said, they were all unique and different from what we have experienced before. We had the crab rangoons, chicken lomein, honey shrimp, and the lettuce wraps. The crab rangoons were full of actual crab instead of cream cheese with the ghost of crab flavor we have usually been served. The chicken lomein was pleasantly saucy without being drenched in sauce and grease. It was full of fresh vegetables cooked enough to enhance their flavor without losing crispness. The honey shrimp wasn't in a mayonnaise based sauce. It was tangy, rich, and sweet without covering the taste of the other flavors to be had. It was enrobed in sauce without being soggy. Last but most assuredly not least, the lettuce wraps....... Oh man those lettuce wraps! Without a doubt these were the unexpected tiger in the culinary grass. I have never had a lettuce wrap that gave me reason to be excited about having more in the future. I had extremely low expectations when I took my first bite. I was so gloriously wrong to have set the bar so low. These were the best dish we ate during our meal. The lettuce was fresh. That's great and all but with some caviots about freshness and quality, lettuce is lettuce. The chicken and vegetable filling was savory and complex. The dark sauce had the flavor of a well used toasted wok. That may not sound great if you've never experienced it, but if you know, you know. If you don't, go out and try it as soon as possible. You're missing something beyond delicious in your life. I would say the same about the lettuce wraps. We will be back. And when we get there we are going to ask for Rachel T. To be our server again. She was full of knowledge about the menu with quick wit and a charming personality. Guys, go get yourself some PF Changs. We visited the one in The Woodlands, TX by the Woodlands mall. Thank you to the entire staff that made our rare date night...
Read moreI've eaten at this restaurant a total of 3 times. My first time eating at this location involved eating the Salmon Entree plate which was delicious and it was my introductory dish into salmon.
My 2nd visit to this restaraunt involved their Mongolian Dinner Plate. I enjoyed the Mongolian beef & even gave a portion of my beef for my friend to try. She really enjoyed the Mongolian beef and said she would order it on the next visit.
Sure enough on my 3rd visit, she ordered the Mongolian beef plate. I on the other hand tried Chang's Spicy Chicken. In all honesty, I didn't really taste the spice. The dish was more sweet than anything else, still delicious but left me wanting a hot element to it.
The restaurant is always clean and the servers have always treated us well.
The only gripe I have with the restaurant is that so far 2 of the 3 appetizer we have tried suck.
We have tried the Chang's Lettuce Wraps and you don't get a wrap. You get the chicken and then have to use the lettuce to scoop it into a makeshift taco. Wrap implies it comes wrapped up. It's not.
We then tried the Shishito Peppers. I should have known better and asked how they were prepared. They are simply blistered peppers with spice & sauce. The peppers aren't spicy nor hot. We are talking about taste and not temperature with that.
Lastly, I had this one in my first visit and my 2 friends enjoyed it. Even the girl who doesn't like seafood said she would eat it again. Tempura Calamari has generous portions, great level of taste, and a lime that accompanies it to enhance the flavor. This so far is the only appetizer I would order again from the ones I've tried.
Will this stop me from trying other appetizers? No. It just shows me I have to read the description better and ask questions.
Definetly a restaurant I will continue to visit as I slowly go through their...
Read moreFirst let me start off by saying I had not been here in 4 or more years. Decided to dine in and here is my opinion about this restaurant. They have built a name fir themselves and I believe people go because of that and no other reason.
Cons Expensive-2 of us dined in and it was $100 add the tip and we were at $120. Food was mediocre at best. a. The pepper steak was SOOOOOO. chewy. I had to very eloquently spit it out into a napkin. EMBARRASSING. b. The California rolls, were ok. Not worth the price. c. Honey chicken was also ok. Not worth the price. The service was not good. a. Everytime we needed our waitress I had to literally jump in front of her. She had like blinders on and would pass super fast and looking straight ahead. I learned the "excuse me" with raising of my hand did nothing. Apparently you need to raise your voice and throw yourself out of the booth to get her attention. Even though she was walking about a foot or two by my booth, and even then it took more than one try. b. She checked on us after we got our food, on her own....ONCE. I wanted to tip her waaay less but my dinner partner insisted we be nice. PROs: The green bean appetizer was really good. They accommodated my dinner partner and made avocado rolls by leaving every thing off the California roll. The waitress was nice when we did speak. It was a convenient walk from the mall in the scorching heat. Not to bad.
Overall, you could probably swing by HEB for sushi and frozen pepper steak and get the same atmosphere, better service and quality of food for 1/4 of the price. It's all in the name and oast generations speaking on how great this restaurant is. In my opinion it was good back in the day especially, when I use to go. ...
