My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel that charlies is connected to so we decided to eat here a couple of times. Breakfast is great however I can't really say the same for dinner. Fortunately, my food was a lot better than my boyfriends (I got the short rib ravioli and the salmon) but it was still mediocre, especially for the price. Meals cost at least $25 for the dinner and if that is if you get something on the cheaper side. At one point we had gotten a cold fried mozzarella that was still somehoe crispy which makes me think that things are reheated and not made fresh and I also can't help but to note my boyfriend asked for a side of ranch with his wings and it was literally bubbling like it was carbonated and he said it was extremely sour which makes me think it was so old that it started to ferment!
Aside from that in regards to the service, while most of the servers are great we had one bad encounter. Before we left we just wanted to grab a quick cappuccino and muffin however after about 15 minutes of waiting for the cappuccinos I went to see if it was done and she had admitted to forgetting our order. She then proceeded to say "hey guys sorry about that I made you guys a latte to make it up to you" which is not what we ordered. After she saw the confused look on our face she said "its basically a bigger cappuccino I can make you your cappacinos if you want" in a somewhat annoyed tone. Given that my boyfriend and I just wanted this to be a quick stop we took the lattes but it was quite frustrating given how long we had already waited just to get the wrong order on purpose.
Overall, though I would say it is somewhat worth the convenience, but there are definitely better options in the area...
Read moreFirst of off I never write bad reviews but this is a high end place and I was shocked. We walked in and the hostess asked if we wanted a table we said yes. She then asked an employee that was sitting at a booth on her phone “hey are u on the clock still”and the lady said “yes” stood up and asked a third employee "hey do u want to take these guys" and she agreed and brought us to our table. Wow I was lost. We had waters brought to us by a kind gentleman who assured us our waitress would be there soon. We thought we had been forgotten watching people receive food for about 45 minutes then our waitress came. No name. Just in and out with our DRINK order which also took an extremely long time. After we ordered our food we waited for our appetizers. I received my luke warm soup, my husband didn’t get his salad and my child didn’t get her food yet, which I thought was strange. The food eventually came and she admitted she forgot the salad. The steak was horrible he said and my daughter requested parmigiana cheese which took forever. My dirty soup bowl with a dirty napkin, an empty beer bottle and a wine glass on our table as we ate dinner .Suddenly the waitress brings us our bill as we are in the middle of eating our dinner! She never offered us a dessert menu so we requested one and ordered one. We then had to go to the hostess stand to get a fork because our waiters was no where to be seen. Meanwhile we had every dish dirty napkins, empty wine glass and beer bottle knocking over and now we're stacking plates trying to make room for dessert on our table. We eat fine dining a lot and my husband works for a high end restaurant in Manchester. We have never had such bad...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. My family and I went on a family vacation to lake George. We decided that on one of the nights we would eat at Charlie’s. My sister-in-law called ahead of time to make a reservation, they told us they do not make reservations but that our family could come at 5:30pm. We arrived at the time they requested and the result we found was appalling. The lady at the front entrance looked at our kids with disgust. When asked to be seated she rudely stated she did not think they could serve us and reluctantly stated she would check with someone. She left making remarks with what looked like one of the waitresses. She came back and asked us how many people were in our party again. We told her the number and that one child needed a high chair. She rudely stated well a high chair is still a seat, it takes up space and then went back into the restaurant. She immediately came back out and smirked as she stated “yea we can’t accommodate you.” The restaurant was basically empty and we were told over the phone we could come. She did not even apologize but instead found it amusing that she turned our family away. This lady obviously did not want our kids there. The worst part was that my oldest son, who is 7 years old, asked me why they didn’t want us there. This place is NOT family friendly and I am beyond disgusted by the way we...
