I'm giving 3 because Issa, the acting manager at 7 pm on 7/27/22, came in and fixed things, otherwise I would give it one. The only reason I came to this restaurant is because they have soup, and my girlfriend just had her wisdom teeth pulled yesterday so she needs something soft to eat. The girl working behind the counter, Allegra (not sure how it's spelled) was extremely rude and dismissive. She was moving cups and other things behind the counter around, so my girlfriend was trying to be polite as she works in the food industry herself, and stood back from the counter to wait until we were greeted to start ordering. Allegra did not say hello, hi, or hey, she did not say "just a minute," she did not greet us in any capacity. The way I knew that she was ready for us to order is she put her hand under her jaw and was leaning forward on the counter staring at us. Even when my girlfriend asked "Are you ready for us to order?," we still were not given a verbal answer, just a eye roll as she stood up straight. My girlfriend told Allegra "I would like to do a half spud half soup," and instead of asking 'Okay what kind of spud and what kind of soup would you want,' Allegra just stared blankly at her, prompting my girlfriend to turn and ask me "Can we just leave? I don't want to be treated like this just for ordering food." I legitimately did not hear a single word or sound come out of Allegra, until I had come all the way back inside to ask for a manager to make a complaint, at which point she still didn't respond to me personally, just turned to the male cook in the back and told him she needed a manager upfront. After Issa, the manager, came and heard my complaint, to which I would like to add she agreed with me 100% that we SHOULD have been greeted and definitely not treated so dismissively, she offered to make my girlfriends food for free as a way to apologize as well as gave me two VIP meal cards. In the meanwhile I could hear Allegra, at a pretty decent volume so people could hear her, saying "Oh no, I don't wanna be getting no more complaints," "I swear, I really dont be having time for this," and a couple other smart remarks. I'm usually not one to complain, Im definitely not somebody who writes reviews. But the food industry isn't for everybody to be a part of, and that most definitely includes people like Allegra. It takes people skills, politeness, and a sense of self accountability, all of which were very clearly not possessed by Allegra. I was told that the General Manager is named Brandon and that he will be in at 8 am tomorrow, so I'm hoping you get a chance to read all this before I call in the morning. Without a doubt one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had to deal with. Issa was exactly how a manager should have been in terms of approach and problem solving, so 5 stars for her. But the cooks in the back, especially the male who acted like it was absurd I wanted to speak to a manager, and most definitely Allegra, did NOT conduct themselves in even a slightly...
Read moreLet me tell you about my recent trip to McCalisters Deli on Miller Lane today. Not often you hear the good reviews, so I would like to tell mine.
I recently just got out of the hospital Saturday afternoon 9/2 and I have not had the appetite to eat anything. Today 9/4 is Labor Day. I, still feeling weak felt I should probably try to eat something before I ended up back in the hospital. Rewind to this morning, after waking up and finding our our daughter's rabbits has passed away, our daughter chose to go to McCalisters for lunch. Now, anyone who knows me, knows that I can not go ANYWHERE without someone messing up my order. I can't have cheese, they put cheese on my sandwich, I ask for no pickles, I get a pickle etc. Always, my orders are never right.
So we order our food and I order a half King Club (which is double the size of the McCalisters club. A sandwich our daughter always gets) with half a potato. When the order comes I realize that my half sandwich is the same size as my daughter's. I go back in to order another half bc it's clearly not going to fill me up. As I reach the counter, my fiance walks in and tells me that they forgot our son's mac and cheese. I let the cashier Ms. Wanda know. At this point she can tell I'm upset but I'm willing to pay for the extra half sandwich. She then preceded to tell me that she will handle it. 5 minutes later, she comes out with the Mac and cheese and a fresh, whole sandwich, free of charge. She said that "She could tell in was upset. They have a new person training in the back and she appreciated me being understanding. She just hope it brighten my day a little bit"
I cried right there. You don't find custome service like her or this establishment anymore. I was very willing to pay but she took it upon herself to handle it by treating the customer to make their day better! We are 100% McCalisters customers for life and if ANYONE wants to know of a great sandwich place to eat with the best customer service around, I will always recommend this place! Very grateful for Me. Wanda and all the...
Read moreIn December, I bought several gift cards to McAlister's. For each gift card that I bought, I received a $5 gift card that I could use between the dates of January 1st and February 28th, 2025. I had used all except one without any problem whatsoever. I simply went into the restaurant, placed my order, gave them my $5 gift card that I earned because I bought gift cards for people for Christmas. I earned this. The only rule that I had to follow was to buy the gift cards. Today I went into the restaurant and tried to use my last gift card. It was valid. In the end, the restaurant at the Fairfield Commons Mall in Beavercreek stole the. $5 from me. They explain to me that they had changed their rules -- completely breaking the terms of our original agreement which was to buy a gift card and get a $5 gift card. I was told that I had to install their app or I could not use the gift card. So, in other words, I had to bow down to their wishes to install an app or they were going to steal my $5 gift card. I refused to bow down to their demands. Those demands were not given when I first purchased a gift cards. I spent a good deal of money on these gift cards for people. I earned every single $5 gift card that I received. I know for a fact that a manager could have overridden something and given me a $5 discount. Everything would have been good. Instead, the manager insisted that nothing whatsoever could be done. That is 100% a lie. No other location has has ever demanded that I download their app just to use a $5 gift card. And please keep in mind that I had already used several of those $5 gift cards. Beware of this place. If you don't bow down to them, they will not let you use this type of gift card. In effect,...
