I got the Sweet Jane and overall, it was terrible. First, I had called to request a pick up time for 6 because I had something holding me until 5:30-5:45. The lady over the phone said quote “Well we are not that busy right now so I am going to just put it in. Is pick up in 15 minutes alright?”. I said “no, I was hoping to pick it up at 6 if that’s okay” and again she said “we are not that busy so i am just going to put it in. See you in fifteen alright?” . I responded with “can I just call back?” And she said AGAIN that they “weren’t super busy so it would be better to do now”. I had read the reviews and really wanted to try this pizza place and specifically wanted a hot honey style pizza. So I bit the bullet and agreed because again, I read the reviews and they were all seemingly okay. When I picked up the pizza they were all friendly enough but I was just still upset that the woman on the phone kept stating they weren’t busy and I didn’t want a cold pizza either.
Now onto the food, it was thin. Like SEE THROUGH thin! (See picture) and it was so floppy/wet. The crust had the most flavor THE FREAKING CRUST!! When you first bite into the hot honey flavor hits and it’s alright, but as you move on it’s over powered by the crust and the pepperoni. The pepperoni is greasy and soggy and almost tastes undercooked. Definitely if you are considering eating here but like well done pizza. Specify because I think they took this pizza out of the oven before it was even done.
Overall I will not go back, which is sad because when I walked into the restaurant it was super cute. Nice atmosphere very calm and smelled amazing!! I was so excited to eat this. I took my pizza straight to my car and bit into it immediately because I wanted a fresh piece.
This is honestly just an overrated and OVERPRICED pizza joint in Virginia Beach. Save your money and go...
Read moreWhere to start....I had walked in to this beautiful establishment to what seemed to be a chaotic situation. The staff was running around frantic, the cooks where yelling for runners, the manager seemed like he was ready to snap, and the hostess didn't have time to even let me know they would be right with me. Eventually I was taken to my table where the rest of my group was waiting, the waiter came to the table 2-3 times before greeting myself and another person that had just joined. I had already looked over the menu and was aware of the high price on everything but was shocked to see what little one got for such a high cost. $9 for 1 egg split in half and fried on a bed of arugula. $12 for some garlic fries haphazardly piled with sauce thrown across the plate. $14 for a thin pizza crust with tomato sauce spread on it. I'm assuming the server was so busy with other tables that the manager had to take care of our table since we didn't see the server till the end of the meal. The food was decent, nothing to rave about. I think the best part was when I asked for a pizza box and they brought out a generic pizza box INSIDE OUT! They purposely fold the pizza boxes inside out just so they can carelessly stamp a faint hint of a logo on what should be the inside of the box. I rarely rate and review my experiences at restaurants, but I had to do this. Over all it wasn't horrible, I just wouldn't go back or recommend this establishment to anyone unless they have money to waste on miss represented, poor...
Read moreI’ll start with Hearth is one of my family’s favorite at the beach. Over the years we have recommended it to numerous visiting friends. Our last two visits ( we go once a month) has had issues with burned pizza. The first time we thought it was just “ ahh things happen” so we over looked it. Last night the pizza was burned again. When the manager randomly walked over - we didn’t call him nor did we say anything to our server about the burned pizza- the manager asked how is everything. I showed him the pizza. He replied “ Well I don’t know what we can do.” Everyone at the table was surprised by his answer. I guess he realized how that sounded so he said “We can make you another one but that will take an hour, you probably don’t want to wait that long.” My husband said - you are right we already waited an hour for dinner, thank you. The manager leaves our table and goes sit with two ladies for the remainder of our time there, giving the appearance that slow burned food coming out of the kitchen was not a concern. My point, it’s been years since I’ve been dismissed at an upscale dining restaurant. We paid our hefty bill. Went home ordered pizza that was delivered hot, fresh and not burned. Rethinking if I want to go back to Hearth and if I will continue...
