This place is a new addiction of mine. This is literally the best ice cream you will find in the Hampton roads. I have always loved ice cream, but this place takes the number one spot. I come very often to get my two quarts of cookie monster and a regular to drive home with. I also take friends and customers from the business I own and get them hooked as well. I have been to all three locations and all of them are amazing.
To the people complaining about no inside seating, there are other locations that have inside seating :)
To the people complaining about their ice cream melting out of the bottom of their waffle cone.... be smarter than that please. And to add to that, I get a quart and I am pretty sure they are kept in a different freezer because they come out ROCK HARD and I drive all the way back to Chesapeake and they are still rock hard. You can barely scrape anything off the top 15-20 minutes later. So maybe try a cup if you want to eat it immediately or a quart if you'd like to take it home and enjoy :)
To the people complaining about service, I have gotten nothing but the best service every single time I come here. They even know what I am ordering as soon as they see me walking up now. Always super friendly.
So in that case, I'll be there when I get off work tonight! 2 quarts of cookie monster and a regular to go! Yall are killing my diet but I skip lunch and dinner just to be able to eat me some Lolly's.
You guys keep rocking! I hope y'all do amazing and I love finding new restaurants that keep y'all's ice cream in stock. I just need y'all to let me know where all the rest of the restaurants are lol. Thanks for the couple of pounds I've gained the last few weeks. I have...
Read moreLolly's is delicious. It's our local Virginia Beach ice cream gem. Like all places that have house-made ice cream that's different and has some favorite flavors you can't get anywhere else.
It hasn't been around forever, it's founded by some sweet locals who went to JMU (Go DUKES!) and settled here after college. They wanted to make Lolly's a place for the community to come together, feel happy, and do good. To that end, they have partnered with other local businesses to help everyone succeed and their first shop is in the VIBE district.
They have some featured flavors that make everyone go crazy, like the blue cookie monster ice cream loaded with cookie dough chunks. The Blueberry Lemon bar is another favorite. Samoa (yes, it's the Girl Scout cookie flavor) won a national championship contest and it's a decadent toasted coconut flavor loaded with caramel swirls and chunks of samoa cookies. It's THE best. There are too many favorites to count and they make special flavors like Ube, holiday flavors, and some seriously good stuff at Christmas.
If you're here and you love ice cream (who doesn't?!) you gotta go! You never know which flavors you're gonna get. But you can always check their webpage or Instagram, they're great about posting the weekly flavors.
Plus they are the nicest people ever, support their small business that supports other...
Read moreO. M. G. My son and I had a rough evening the day before and decided to get out of the house for awhile. After stopping at the beach and First Landing State Park, we decided to get ice cream. I wanted something local and found Lolly's when I Googled "ice cream near me".
I had "All the Good Stuff" which is a special flavor this week only. It starts with a dark chocolate base. Now, if you don't normally like dark chocolate, don't worry! It's not bitter and really tastes like a very full flavored chocolate. Mixed in are pretzels, cookie dough and...chocolate-covered potato chips! I chose to add "Lolly's Special" sauce, Which is chocolate, caramel and marshkapone cheese mixed together. Yes please! I also opted for "the works" on top, which was sprinkles, whipped cream and a bing cherry. It was almost like eating a super fudgy brownie batter!
My son opted for a simpler dessert: a waffle cone with cookie monster ice cream. The base ice cream was delicious and creamy and the cookie pieces inside tasted like fresh cookie batter.
To say that I am glad we discovered Lolly's Ice Cream today is an understatement. I'm looking forward to a chance to go back, perhaps to their Loehman's Plaza location, which is not too far...
