1st time back in 3 years. Not busy on a Saturday morning. Disappointed to say the least. Seated promptly. Order taken. Downhill from there. 2 waters and a large OJ. We only got one water. My wife's corn beef hash looked like dark brown dog food and was so salty it was inedible. The 2 over easy eggs were to be served on a separate plate (shows that on the receipt) but it came with 3 eggs on the main plate and a single piece of toast. Her potatoes were ok. My "Locals Favorite" arrived with one piece of paper thin bacon vs the 2 stated. The over easy eggs were cooked correctly. The pancakes were ok at best and small. We got the order un-screwed with the waitress (note: she doesn't cook or serve the food). If this is where the locals eat, I would find another place. *Note this review was completed without using ridiculous un-discriptive terms like out-of-bounds, OMG, on point, awesome, the bomb, yummy, delish, to die for, do yourself a favor, trust me, flavorful, or kids emojis etc.. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No disrespect to the employees, but no one cares about the waiter/waitress/clerk names, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. We don't care about your allergies, vibes, how "chill" you feel, or the need for gluten free food. **If you see a Google review posted with just stars & no text, report it via the 3 dot selection adjacent to the review. If the text in the review doesn't describe the food/service report it. This cleans up Google reviews and removes the slugs just trying to get reviewer points by marking a star or "paid" reviewers. Process: Select - Report review. Select- Not helpful at the bottom of the drop down menu. If the review doesn’t help people decide whether to utilize this business or go to this place it's worthless.

Went here with my mom the other day for lunch. Haven’t been here in yearssss. I’m a vb local and some of my friends say they like Mary’s. My review is strictly on their lunch food. We haven’t had their breakfast before but it does look great in the pictures. I got the BBQ chicken with collards and Mac and cheese. The Chicken itself was super tender, fall off the bone. The chicken skin was super soggy and I didn’t end up eating it. The collards were homemade but tasted like straight vinegar and not appetizing at all. The bread roll was warm and tastes great. Mac and cheese was just ok. It was 1/2 off pie day (Wednesday’s) and we got 3 different pies to try. The Apple, chocolate cream, and pumpkin. All were good but chocolate was the best, then apple, then pumpkin. My mom had the meat loaf and it was an end piece that was very hard. The meat loaf itself wasn’t the best, but the gravy was great! The worst part was the smell inside the booth we were sitting at. (Third or fourth booth from the back on the right wall.) it smelled terrible. I almost asked to move in the middle of our mean but they were super busy. The rest of the restaurant didn’t smell bad but it was overwhelming over in the booths. Like old wet laundry that sat for a few days. Loved the open diner feel, and you can sit up at the bar. Surf boards hanging, and cool old VB pics on the walls. I really want this to be one of my new spots but the food looks way better than it actually tastes. Will try it one more time with their breakfast food and update.

I usually come here with family and friends to enjoy the food. However, ever since the renovation happened (which I have no problem with because it looks a lot more kept) the service has been horrible. Everything that we requested wasn't given right away. Whether it was a glass of water with our coffee, orange juice, even silverware. We didn't understand what the hold up was because there was enough staff and only 5 tables were being served.

Finally, our order came and no water was given, yet neither was my orange juice. (My friend requested water to another service and acted totally scared about getting us water that she never delivered, we found it weird and humorous) After the 2nd time I requested my orange juice our service tries and tricks me to order a large size when I just wanted a small. My server kept repeating that I wanted a large, it was to the point she was really obnoxious. For the cherry on top of that, my order was not cooked correctly. It was the worst Eggs Benedict I will ever have at a restaurant. Who cooks poached eggs to the point its hard boiled??? I refused to get my order remade because my family needed to go drop of my friend to the airport. She still took it back and I waited but I was just left there obligated to eat my food alone because they had to go catch their flight.

My friend's parents were the one who always suggest Mary's to other visitors and to me also. But that was totally embarrassing in our part to go there at the few times we have went for lunch and breakfast. And we don't think we'll ever go again.

We hope that you train your team a lot better for the future of your business, and become more professional with how they talk to guest and handle...

Decided to frequent here for a weekend breakfast, and it was around lunchtime. It had been many years since I've been there, and it's been remodeled since I had. It was busy the day that myself and a friend came to have our meal. I saw the special of the day was a crab meat eggs benedict, and I thought it was going to be great. Once I received the crab benedict, there was a foul odor immediately when it came to the table! Not only that, but there was only crab meat sprinkled, not even a lump of crab me as advertised. Being a former fishing woman, I knew that this meal was not anything that I would put on my palate due to the outrageous odor. I immediately took it back to the waitress station and told them that I could not eat it and I would need to order something else. I replaced it with pork chops they were deep-fried, mashed potatoes and collard greens. I received two pork chops, and they were seasoned. However, I didn't find them as desirable as I thought I would. The manager did come over and say well the crab dish smells like seafood to me I don't really find anything wrong with it but I will issue you a credit on your bill I couldn't believe that he actually would not consider issuing me a credit after I'd already ordered a replacement order and spoke about how foul the smell was; even my guest at the table thought it was a very foul odor. I would frequent here again as I know in the past it was an excellent place to go to for breakfast.

As I said, it had been many years since I've been here, but I would be willing to give it another try. Also, the waitress did not come back and check on our drinks, and it took a while for us to get waited on once we were seated...
