TLDR; Raw chicken & food poisoning.
My husband and I were excited to try Bombo, and the space itself is gorgeous—but our experience quickly went from 100 to 0. The appetizers were good, the cocktails were pretty good, but once we ate a piece piece of our main (the chicken with green mole) we noticed the chicken was absolutely raw in the middle. Like not even a little pink—stone-cold raw.
We alerted the waiter, who was kind about it, and we ordered the mushroom and potato tacos instead—pretty hard to undercook, if you know what I mean.
Once we got the bill, we were pretty disappointed that they didn’t comp us for any of the meal. I asked if there was anything he could do, and he went to go chat with his manager who was sitting at the bar.
I think the most disappointing part of it, was that the manager didn’t come over to chat with us or apologize. He was only 15 feet away, and for a brand new restaurant… this was a pretty big miss. The waiter came back to let us know he comped two of our drinks, which was underwhelming but whatever.
Cut to an evening of no sleep (I’ll save you the details) — all thanks to Bombo. I'd...
Read moreGreat experience at Bombo restaurant. The space itself was full of life and very easy on the eyes.
Considering this is a new restaurant, my party wanted to try on the menu for size and ordered several items. The dishes were crafted to share, making it easy for us to feast family style. Let me tell you: The food did not disappoint. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. While it’s hard to pick a favorite, my party really enjoyed the Hangar steak, cauliflower taco, camarones a la diabla, and the croquettas with Oaxacan cheese. Plus, desert was FIRE. The churros and ice cream medley are to die for. A perfect ending to a fine meal.
On the drink side, everyone seemed to enjoy the cucumber margarita, but I particularly enjoyed the “Purple Rain” drink.
Service was quick and attentive, even with the large crowd. Overall, a fine first visit that will hopefully be the...
Read morePurchased Dinner + A Movie for 2 and enjoyed our dinner at Bombo! The flavors were great and the churros were so scrumptious! It was a good value in LA for 2 rooftop movie tickets, an order of chips + guacamole, churros, 2 appetizers, and 2 meal plates. We were surprised at the comparison of the meat tacos versus the veg tacos - pictured below. The veg tacos were very small and not filling unlike the meat taco options that are larger/filling. Overall, the food was yummy, the staff was kind, and its a cute spot. Would love to see veg options that compete with the size / quality of their meat options...
