Sailing the Danube on Duna Bella: A Gem with a Few Specks
Ahoy there! Let's talk about a delightful experience sailing down the Danube on the Duna Bella. If you're considering a river cruise in this part of the world, sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and let me guide you through the highs and (a few) lows of this journey.
The Upsides: A Beautiful Journey at a Fair Price First things first, the Duna Bella offers a picturesque voyage along the Danube that's definitely worth your time and bucks. The price feels just right, especially since it includes a drink – a small but appreciated gesture that adds to the experience. Imagine cruising along, a cool breeze in your hair, and a refreshing beverage in hand. It's a picture-perfect scene, isn't it?
A Bit of a Clean-Up Needed However, perfection is often in the details, and that's where Duna Bella could brush up a bit. While taking in the beautiful sights, you might notice some uninvited cobwebs and windows that could do with a bit more shining. It's not a deal-breaker, but hey, a cleaner boat would elevate this experience from great to fantastic.
Modern Facilities with a Tiny Hitch Now, let's talk amenities. The boat boasts some pretty modern toilets, which is a nice touch. But, there's a small issue with broken grilles that kind of spoils the sleek look. It's like finding a piece of shell in your omelet – not a disaster, but slightly annoying.
The Margaret Island Miss Here's a heads-up: if you're looking forward to stretching your legs on Margaret Island during the trip, you might be in for a bit of a disappointment. Apparently, stopping there is a seasonal thing, which isn't clearly mentioned in all brochures or websites. A little more clarity on this front would be helpful for future sailors.
Overall Verdict: In a nutshell, the Duna Bella river cruise is a delightful experience that's worth considering if you're in the area. It offers beautiful views, a relaxing vibe, and decent value for your money. Sure, there are a couple of areas that could use some improvement, but they don't overshadow the overall positive experience. I'd say, give it a go and enjoy the ride – just don't set your heart on Margaret Island unless you've checked the season schedule!

Read moreThe Legenda City Cruise in Budapest is fantastic. Despite a hiccup with my arrival time, where I missed my scheduled departure, the service team at the reception desk, seamlessly accommodated me onto the next available cruise without any hassle. This gesture of understanding and flexibility speaks volumes about their customer service ethos.
Before boarding, I enjoyed the comforts of a well-appointed waiting area situated along the scenic Danube, complete with an upstairs section perfect for capturing the river and city. The cruise itself was aboard a vessel boasting a glass roof, ensuring clear views of Budapest's stunning skyline, irrespective of your seat. The interior was warm, inviting, and maintained with a high standard of cleanliness—observed first-hand as the crew diligently prepared the boat for us ensuring everything was perfect for our experience.
The tour's audio guide was exceptional, featuring a clever narrative approach with distinct male and female voices representing Buda and Pest sides of the city, respectively. This, along with clear instructions on where to look, enriched the experience. A complimentary drink was offered, with a choice ranging from champagne and wine to beer and soft drinks, a perfect complement to the panoramic views.
The entire tour lasted 90 minutes, striking the perfect balance between time and content, leaving us with a comprehensive and memorable experience of Budapest from the water.
The Legenda City Cruise provided an exemplary service that greatly exceeded my expectations, making it a highlight of my visit to Budapest. I recommend them to anyone looking for a unique way to explore the city, promising both comfort and...
Read moreWe went on a night cruise with Danube Legend. The ticket prices were quite expensive, as we paid 25 euros each. The cruise lasted almost an hour, and it offered one complimentary drink of our choosing (between certain options). We sat on the upper outside space, where we could also see a screen with some highlights of the city, but at some points the screen was not working properly, which was a little irritating. Also, there were certain headphones for the audioguide, but only one of the headphones was working (this happened to both of us), which made it really hard to hear what the audio was saying. Moreover, the audio guide kept breaking during the cruise, so at some points it stopped even talking until it rebooted itself. All of these made us think that it is not worthy paying 25 euros each for an experience like that, where a lot of things break, as there were cruises much cheaper (yet we can't know if they experience similar issues). On the other hand, a night cruise in the Danube is something that you should not miss by any chance if you are visiting Budapest. The images of the buildings and their lights are something that will stick with you for a long time. The Parliament and Buddha Castle were unbelievable at night. NOTE: We can't know what is happening in the other cruises, yet we could see other boats full of people who were standing up, so we assume that people who were sitting down could not enjoy the view. In the Danube Legend cruise we had no problem with the view; there were only a few people upstairs so we could clearly see everything, which is the most important for a once in a...
