Extremely Unprofessional Service at Ripley’s Lounge – November 9, 2024

I’m writing to share my disappointing experience at Ripley’s Lounge Believe it or Not on November 9th, 2024, which was marred by incredibly unprofessional behavior from an employee.

After finishing our museum tour, my friends, my sister and I decided to relax at the lounge and my sister ordered lemon iced tea. Right at beginning we were not greeted by that employee, who had a very cold demeanor and did not even bother to say hello, thank you or sorry in the whole story. Anyway, we went ahead with our order, but unfortunately, the drink we were served was the wrong flavor and it was not sparkling. When my sister politely addressed the issue, your female employee responded abruptly, claiming that the bottle was already halfway consumed (which it was not), and insisted that we wouldn’t be given a replacement without additional charges.

This was frustrating enough, but what happened next was completely unacceptable. When I approached your employee to further discuss the situation, she became wrongly argumentative without having any understanding for her own mistake. We got into a heated discussion, which could have been avoided by her changing her attitude and some sense of what customer service means. However, the most shocking part was when she suddenly lost control over her mind, screaming and throwing/smashing her name tag on the table in front of me. When I asked her for her a picture of her name tag, she continued to act irrationally by holding it next to her face. When I declined, she suddenly accused me of taking her picture and started yelling again, making the entire situation even more bizarre and uncomfortable for us and the others around us. (Here I was confused: first she was asking me to take a picture of her face and her name tag and within seconds she switched to screaming and accusing me of taking her picture, which I didn‘t? Lol)

This level of unprofessionalism is beyond anything I’ve experienced in a customer service setting. Not only was there a simple issue with the wrong drink being served, but her behavior and refusal to acknowledge her mistake made the situation far worse. I hope Ripley’s Lounge takes this feedback seriously and addresses the conduct of their staff.

Another point is that after our conversation with the manager and as we were leaving the building, one couple and a friends group, who had been present during the discussion, approached me. They told me that I had handled the situation the right way, as her attitude had been inappropriate. Which again underlines the problem with...

The actual attractions were spectacular. It was the actions of the staff that ruined the experience for me. I dropped a huge scarf that I had been using the protect myself from the poor weather on the 3rd floor and within a minute I realised I had dropped it, within that time a member of staff must have found it and took it to lost and found. I know it wasn't anyone visiting the place as it had been dropped for literally a minute and we were all heading the same direction and I didn't see a single person holding it, so I thought hey OK the staff must have found it and took it to lost and found, no issue. This is in fact where the issues began.

I spoke to 5 separate staff members about guiding me to lost and found or looking themselves, all of which Said they would look immediately. Of course, they didn't and I stood and watched them return to their tasks *it was busy and I understood that, but it was incredibly rude for them to just palm me off that way'

After once again circling the whole building to see if they had placed it anywhere, I finally turned to a member of staff that told me ' we are understaffed, nobody has time to look for your scarf', which I found to be completely outrageous, especially after being told be numerous members of staff that they would go look. I literally just wanted to go and look myself at that point as it was freezing outside and I just wanted the scarf back, but I kept being dismissed by workers over something so stupidly simple, since they were likely the ones who took it to lost property I was shocked at how annoyed they all seemed when I asked for MY PROPERTY to be looked for.

This was on Saturday the 14th of December from 2pm to 4pm, whichever man was letting people into the building then was completely rude and told me that the staff had no time to look, which wasn't a problem caused by me and I had to suffer because they couldn't delegate their time properly.

I had to leave in the freezing cold and purchase a new scarf, all because of the sheer incompetence of the staff. Again I understand they were busy, but they were incredibly rude and their outright refusal to even look was absolutely ridiculous.

Warning to all that go, do not make the mistake of dropping anything! I hope the staff member who told me that they didn't have time to so much as look for my property has a cold weekend.

Thanks, whichever staff member gets the pick of my scarf, enjoy how warm...

It has got some cool stuff but mostly aging plastic replicas, more than half of the interactive buttons and screens were not working, doesn't take long to get round the place so take your time and read everything if you want to get your money's worth, there was lots of fun facts and information everywhere although some could have been more detailed as most were just a sentence or two and a few could use a clarification on if it's since been proven to be true or if experts have denounced it, like the wolf girl for example. There is a small lift from the top to get back down to the bottom but if there was lift option to avoid the stairs going up each level then i couldn't see it, so maybe not great if you can't do the stairs, also if you do the lift on the way down you'll miss a lot of facts that are on the walls while going down the stairs. The attic with the cafe in it was truly a beautiful space, its a shame you cant access that separately without ripleys tickets as I'd have returned there many times but wouldn't do ripleys again now ive seen it. Overall yes I enjoyed it and yes I recommend it if you're in the area with family but I do think it's a lot of money for what it is and you might be just as entertained by reading one of the Ripley's annuals from the comfort of your sofa without spotlights and flashing lights and spooky sounds overhead. What would make it better is for it to all be completely updated and repaired and have more of the actual artifacts in, and for the attic cafe to have a separate access for casual visits. The 2 staff members we saw through the whole experience (one scanning tickets, one in cafe) were friendly, but would have been fun if there were staff doing some interactive stuff throughout the place to add...

If you're looking for a unique and entertaining attraction in Amsterdam, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum is an absolute must-visit. We visited it and we were blown away by the fascinating exhibits and interactive experiences. The museum is full of oddities and curiosities from around the world, including shrunken heads from the Amazon rainforest, a two-headed calf, and even a sculpture made entirely of chewing gum. But what really makes the museum stand out is the way these exhibits are presented. Every corner you turn offers a new surprise, and there are plenty of interactive displays that allow you to get up close and personal with the strange and unusual. One of our favorite exhibits was the optical illusions, which really played with our perceptions of reality. We walked through a spinning vortex tunnel that made us feel like we were in a funhouse, and we were amazed by a room that appeared to be slanted even though it was perfectly level. But what really made our visit memorable was the interactive exhibits. We got to experience what it's like to be in an earthquake and test our strength against a giant anaconda. We even got to take a photo with a life-size model of Robert Wadlow, the tallest person in recorded history. Our visit to Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in Amsterdam was a blast. The museum is full of surprises and unique experiences, and we had a great time exploring all the oddities and curiosities. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this is one attraction you won't want to miss!

I never thought I’d visit Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in Amsterdam, as I only read about it in books as a kid. But my visit turned out to be an incredible experience! The entry fee was about €22.50 for adults, and it was worth every cent. The museum is packed with fascinating exhibits that are both educational and entertaining. From shrunken heads to mind-boggling optical illusions, every corner has something that sparks curiosity and amazement. Some of the highlights for me included the incredible collection of rare artifacts, the mirror maze, and the interactive musical staircase. The interactive displays kept me engaged the entire time, and the friendly staff were knowledgeable and helpful. If you’re looking for a unique and memorable experience in Amsterdam, I highly recommend visiting Ripley’s Believe It or Not! It truly brings the pages of the books I read as a child to life.
