This church is very lax in allowing vagrants to use its grounds around the clock, resulting in turning the nearby community into a hobo camp. They fight, aggressively panhandle, have sex in public, defecate in public, steal, assault, and make a drunken racket at all hours. Community members have been trying to get them and police to do something about it, and little to nothing is being done. At all hours you can see upwards of 30 of them loitering with their loaded shopping carts full of junk. Be careful where you walk because you may step on one of them unwittingly. One of them tried to shank a guy living across the street with a screwdriver and he was sent to jail for aggravated assault. Another one stole the doorknobs off the church to sell for scrap metal. Community members have taken tons of photos of these vagrants, and the church doesn't seem to care to do lick about it.
This church has turned the area into a blight and is bringing everyone down with it. If you're such bleeding hearts, St John's staff, please relocate these people into your own yards and homes instead of dumping them on those of us that live...
Read moreSt. John's Cathedral is a wonderful community! If you are looking for place to worship, a way to serve in the Denver community or a place to make some new friends, St. John's is the place to be! They have a strong children's program, from little ones up through high school, Cathedral Night on Wednesday nights for all ages, with Eucharist, dinner and classes, Seniors on a Rampage (SOAR), 20's and 30's group, a monthly day of service at different agencies throughout Denver, a yearly women's retreat and an all parish retreat at Cathedral Ridge, just to name some of the things going on at St. John's. There are four services to choose from every Sunday during the program year and the choir and music is consistently amazing! The clergy are a remarkable group of men and women who help to guide this vibrant community. I would highly recommend St. John's Cathedral to anyone looking for a...
Read moreI'm Catholic what am I going to say it's a bad Church? I don't think so but since I'm on this page and since I'm giving it 5 stars I will go as far as expressing my concern about the covering of statues specifically our lady and the crucifix and the Saints in the removal of holy water I wonder at what point does our faith require total lack of light or visual reference for us to satisfy our insecurities as Christians or Catholics for us to believe and confirm our faith by proving that we don't need a visual reference or a remembrance of the sacrifice Jesus has made for us and then in turn to reflect that in our communion with Christ I'm sorry I might be a little confused and even showing my age but in my opinion this is not moving forward or reflecting growth in my face or in my belonging to...
