UPDATE: The spa reached out to see if I wouldnât mind coming back in to assess my brows and see if there is a way to fixâŚchanged to 4 stars for now.
I debated on leaving this review since itâs negative, but Iâm pretty disappointed I spent a few hundred dollars on my eyebrowsâŚso I wanted to share my experience. I was actually told to come back within a month for a touch up, but the shape is so bad, I canât imagine a fix at this point. I also know thereâs a slight language barrier with the woman who did my brows, so itâs hard to have a casual convo about what Iâm looking for.
It seems thereâs only one shape this particular woman offers, not the owner, but someone I assume sheâs trainedâŚthe shape is the heavy front area and a short small tail, which doesnât go with my facial features, or the minimal make up I wear. I assumed part of this service was knowing the best shape/size for my faceâŚ. that they were kind of the âexpertsâ, but thatâs not the case. They map out one kind of eyebrow design/shape and unfortunately, it is not a âone size fits allâ shape.
Everything was drawn in first, but it was drawn in thick black pencil that looks way over the top, not like in the IG profile where itâs drawn in real-life looking strokes in a matching color for your complexionâŚ.so you canât really tell what it will look like. I shouldâve left thenâŚ. But I didnât.
Now Iâm stuck with a shape thatâs not flattering to my face and one whole arch is off, so I put concealer over part of my eyebrow now each day in addition to shaping them properly. I basically spent money to spend MORE time on my brows each day.
Also, the woman took about 5 minutes it seemed just to take a bunch of videos before and afterâŚ.and she just did it; maybe I signed something, but come onâŚjust take a quick one and letâs go, not video after video after video. Just an all around disappointment. Even the other women that worked there said nothing after. Usually people say âoh it looks niceâ, even if theyâre not being honest. Lol⌠but these women said nothing; probably because my brows looked so terrible for my face and the arch was clearly off.
I hope your experience is better if you choose to go here. I know itâs not entirely helpful since Iâm not naming the woman who did mine, but I just feel bad doing thatâŚjust make sure you have a good, detailed conversation with anyone before starting. Or maybe come with your eyebrows shaped/drawn the way you like them, just to give them an idea of what you likeâŚbecause again, they are not shape/style experts, just good at mapping for a style that may, or may not be...
Read moreMy brows have been wispy thin ever since I was twelve years old and my older sister decided she wanted to practice her shaping skills by plucking mine. Thank you to the late â90s trend of pencil thin eyebrows. (Spoiler) They never grew back.
I had heard of microblading years ago, but just never really took it seriously. It seemed expensive for something that didnât look as natural and realistic as I wanted, particularly as a woman with fine hair who very rarely wears any makeup at all. Then I somehow stumbled across learning of nano brows. There are tons of styles and preferences out there, as many artistic flavors as one can imagine. Fortunately in the age of social media using some hashtags and keywords to see what might be available within driving distance was relatively simple.
I found Minhwaâs work right away. I was excited about how beautiful and natural her nano hair strokes look and consistently loved the results she had posted of her clients. After battling a little anxiety (this is oneâs face, after all), I took the plunge and booked a consultation.
Minhwa is lovely. She listened with consideration to what I wanted during our consultation, drew a suggested shape, explained the entire process, and asked for my feedback to make sure I was completely happy. The day of appointment was similar, though much more detailed.
I neednât have worried about the results. I loved my new eyebrows immediately. They look like they have always belonged on my face, and perhaps maybe would have been there already if the hair above my eyes had remained unmolested in my earlier years. I have had friends comment since they did not believe it was not real hair until I beckoned them closer to examine. Dreams come true.
The entire process has been wonderful, with results better than I hoped for. While itâs not inexpensive, for me this was worth every penny. I cannot thank Minhwa enough, and I will recommend her to everyone looking for high quality and natural looking...
Read moreUpdate: I was contacted within hours of my review with a make good by the company. It was appreciated and shows the good faith business. âââ I went to Vive for a sideburn wax, a brow wax, and dermaplanning. I saw online that there was a 20% off deal for students with student IDs- but no code to put in online that I could see. Maybe that was my bad. When booking, I was required to put a card in, which is fine.
The place was nice and clean and everyone was very nice. I had the same person doing all my services and she was very detail oriented.
After getting the dermaplanning done I was confused why she didnât do my upper lip or chin. She told me that she couldnât because of the blade being used and that I would need to book a wax for that.
Well online, the website explicitly says dermaplane would address the upper lip and chin. So now Iâm feeling kind of ripped off and upsold for no reason. And I was already upsold on a jelly mask.
Upon checking out, my card had already been charged so it became an issue when trying to use the student discount offered. The staff wasnât sure what to do so they texted me a discount offer for next time.
Unsure if there will be a next time even with the discount.
I would say go here, just be more diligent than I was. Overall the wax was good and the parts of my face that were dermaplanned are lovely and smooth. And as someone who gets really red from waxing, the jelly mask really did help so I wasnât walking around all day...
