Itās truly heartbreaking to see whatās become of Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis. This place was once a bustling icon of the cityāa beacon of commerce, entertainment, and community. Now, itās completely dried up and practically disappeared into nothing. Walking through the mall today feels like stepping into a ghost town. Most of the shops are gone, the food court is a shadow of what it used to be, and thereās very little reason to visit anymore.
What once served as a central hub for shopping, dining, and making memories has sadly faded away. So many of us grew up coming hereāwhether it was for back-to-school shopping, weekend hangouts, or holiday visits with family. The energy and life that once filled this space have vanished, and whatās left is a hollow reminder of better times.
It's truly disappointing to see such a historic property in the heart of Indianapolis fall into this level of decline. The lack of investment, the departure of nearly every major retailer, and the overall emptiness of the place just makes it feel like the city has given up on it.
Circle Centre Mall used to be a proud symbol of downtown, but now it feels like a relic thatās been forgotten. It deserves better. We all do. Unless major revitalization happens soon, itās hard to recommend visitingābecause, quite honestly, thereās hardly anything left to see. A sad end to what was once a great part of Indyās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly, during normal hours the mall is pretty decent. Some of the food court is unremarkable, while some is quite good. Good selection of most stores, though they are fairly lacking in men's shoes now that one store closed.
The reason I'm leaving such a negative review is that I went to see a late showing of a movie which got out at 130, well after closing. I had parked on the first parking level, close to the pay booths. As I stepped down the escalators and went for the door, I found it locked. I found all the doors level P1 locked. There were other cars besides mine on that level still. I had a moment of legitimate panic. I live four miles away--would I have to walk or perhaps Lyft? Would I come back to a ridiculous parking charge?
Luckily the P2 elevator lobby doors were unlocked and I was able to walk up the ramp to P1 (pretty sure there are signs advising against pedestrians on the ramp). Either the security got lazy or complacent and locked up before they should have, or this building's policies need changing. There was no obvious signage or warning that P1 would be inaccessible at that hour to exiting guests. That is simply...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me preface this by saying that my overall experience at Circle Centre Mall has always been fantastic; this review strictly concerns their security staff.
On the evening of Sunday, 5/26/24, a friend and I left one of the last shows of the night at the Regal upstairs, and as we left, we found one of the exits from the mall locked, so as we turned around, one of the security personnel on site confronted us, shining his flashlight directly into our eyes and making antagonistic comments when we simply asked politely if he could point us toward an unlocked exit. He very rudely demanded we follow him to another exit, which we complied with, going to avoid and further conflict. His hostility was uncalled for, and we were more or less treated like we had hidden inside the mall after hours or were sneaking about the building. Two other security guards we passed just a few minutes earlier while we looking for an exit made no comment to as we walked by. What was otherwise a fun night out with a friend was soured by the discourteousādare I say power-tripling treatment we received from this gentleman, and Iām now hesitant to return...
