Went into Kohls tonight around 630 PM, first time ever being here at this location, wanted to purchase a pair of shoes but they didn't have very many women shoes to choose from so my husband and I decided to get our children a few shirts. We walked up to the checkout line and was waiting to be helped, as we're standing there the cashier just looks at us and when it's our turn she turns around and looks behind her then looks back at us and points to, two elderly ladies and a 15 year old girl, the first elderly lady shot us a smile and waved her hand and said, "it's fine" while the other lady and teenager started shaking there heads in disgust as the teenager and I assumed her mother gave us the nastiest of looks, the cashier then says to us very rudely, " you see them, that's where the line starts. " We looked up at the other customers and apologized and headed to the back of the line, remind you our first time ever being at this location, so we are standing in line and my children ask why we had to move and we explained to them the others were first that we had accidentally jumped ahead of everyone, honest mistake, that was that. The manager and a second cashier come up and open two more registers, we are now back at the counter with the same cashier, we again apologized to the cashier and laughed it off, my husband then said, " this set up for the line is very confusing the next thing you know we'll be getting numbers waiting for it to be called for our turn" he then laughed because it was a joke, he then said you could have told me when I first walked up here the line started back there, he chuckled he wasn't meaning any harm, but he did make it clear the lines were kind of confusing, the cashier then said to my husband, " the sign says exit only" she then pointed at a 12 inch sign that was flipped backwards on a the side of a metal pole. We apologized again because we did not notice the sign at all, the cashier rolled her eyes. We didn't respond we just looked at each other with confusion, then out of nowhere the elderly lady that was with her teenage daughter started shouting we looked up and shes looking at us she then says to my husband, " so what that's our fault" at this time my husband and I were very confused because we didn't know if she was an employee or customer because she sent her daughter outside and none of the cashiers or manager was saying anything about how loud the lady was being, my husband politely said, " no, we aren't talking about you nor are we talking to you, so sorry if you assumed we were talking about you, but that's not the case" the lady didn't like what my husband had said so she started verbally attacking me saying how she didnt care she was in line first, mind you my husband and I never said a word or had a problem about going to the back of the line lol we apologized and did the right thing, let the ones there first, go first. Well the lady progressively got louder, so loud to the point my 7 year old covered her ears and ducked because when the old lady shouted for me to answer her it startled all of us. Only then when I asked the lady why she was addressing me, after standing in line without any problem, the manager says, what's going on. The older lady whom we assumed it was a customer then said she didnt care and I asked if you don't care why are you assuming our conversation with this cashier has anything to do with you, manager just watching, the older lady still yelling for absolutely no reason, my husband and I confused as hell, our cashier proceeds to check us out and while I was handing my husband the money the lady was still yelling so I told the lady she needed to stop because there were small children present and this was just ridiculous, the manager stepped in and said, NOTHING. Just watched. I don't know about you but I will not give my business to a company who allows customers to be verbally abused as staff just sets by and watches the show instead of trying to de-escalate an aggressive customer.
