Dells Army Duck Tours turned out to be one of the most fun activities we did in Wisconsin Dells. It is not every day you get to ride in a WWII-style amphibious boat that can go from land straight into the water, and that novelty alone made it memorable. We opted for the water ride, and it worked out perfectly for our group, which was a mix of kids and adults.
The guide set the tone from the beginning, keeping things light and fun with a mix of jokes and interesting facts about the area. Having someone who knows how to engage the whole group makes a big difference, and it kept everyone entertained throughout the trip. The ride itself was smooth, and watching the boat transition from driving on land to cruising on the water was a highlight for the kids.
The boats themselves are fascinating pieces of history. Even if you are not into military vehicles, it is cool to see them still in use for something fun and family-friendly. Being out on the water gave us a chance to relax and take in the views, while the unique ride kept it exciting for the kids.
This is one of those attractions that works well because it is different from the usual water park routine. It gave us a fun memory that stood out from the rest of the trip, and I would definitely...

Plan ahead if it's chilly and to wear a warm sweater/light coat. So the experience involves making a bunch of cheesy/fun jokes, and driving in a duckboat (which my kids were sad about cause they thought it would be more of a 'duck'). The ride is fairly straightforward - through their property, on the road, get up to speed, then down in the river for a bit, and back. You get to learn a bit about the history of things that happened in the area, and also some of the names of the rocks, though I do question the names that our driver gave us (Ian I believe). All in all, it was a fun experience and from what I could tell, all of my kids enjoyed the experience.
Once you get off the ride, they do try to sell you duck quack whistles, and by far one of the favorite toys my kids got. Not so much for me and Mom.
Depending on the kiddos wants next time, may do again.
Their shop has a little bit of everything to offer, and the lady that was in there on that day was super friendly and patient with us.
Definitely a great...
Read moreTour guide was nice and the experience of the dells was memorable. I’d recommend. You don’t get to choose your seating location on the duck so we ended up in the very back. The tour guide’s speaker was right above our head and too loud for us. There are only two speakers so we were closest. Also the gas smell from the duck was intense and because the fumes accumulate in the body and don’t leave you I basically had anxiety about how that was affecting my family. There was not an opportunity to ask for speaker to be turned down though I tried a few times. Army ducks spend a decent amount of time in the water which I prefer. Tour guide pointed out that the original ducks spend more time on land. I’m not sure if that’s the case but her telling me was effective enough that I’m passing it onto you. Overall a positive memory with a couple things that bothered me more than they probably should because we were exhausted. So go for it, especially if your well rested and not...
