We were not overly impressed. We made reservations, as suggested, and it was a good idea because they WERE busy. But after eating there, we aren’t sure WHY?
They did not serve alcohol, only beer and wine. I had been looking forward to a dirty goose martini after spending all day at the water park with our kids…and quenched my thirst with water.
Other patrons at our table ordered soda, which was served in cans, seemed odd for a place like this, but whatever.
They were out of Japanese soda, so our kids had lemonade…what an experience (note the sarcasm).
I didn’t personally care for their clear soup, it had a heavy beef flavor, unlike any we’ve ever had.
Their habachi vegetables included broccoli and carrots, not bad, but it was more like a homemade stir fry than standard habachi vegetables consisting of onion, zucchini and mushrooms.
They served an odd sweet noodle with dinner, again, that I didn’t care for, but everyone else seemed to gobble up. We’ve eaten at a fair number of Japanese restaurants as our kids love them and have never had it before, so an explanation would have been appreciated.
Their yum yum sauce was heavy on the ketchup and honestly, my homemade stuff tastes better and looks more appetizing.
ETA: the rice was not all completely cooked and there were many crunchy bites in our fried rice…not the most appetizing.
Their protein portions were HUGE. My husband ordered the salmon, our kids each ordered salmon, shrimp and chicken. I also ordered the shrimp, and was served a fair number that were not cleaned or deveined. Eww.
To top it off, I was sick within 45 minutes of eating there. My husband was convinced it was all in my head until he ate my leftovers today and also spent much of the afternoon in the bathroom.
Their dining room was a bit drab, dated and a little on the dingy side. I cannot speak of their bathrooms, because I wouldn’t let anyone use them. We didn’t try their sushi and quite honestly, I would be scared to after our experience. Their staff was pleasant and seemed to be on point.
Maybe we were there on an off night? Maybe it’s changed owners since all the good reviews? Maybe my expectations were too high? Needless to say, we won’t be back. And given the turnover in Wisconsin Dells, by the time we visit again, they probably won’t be...
Read moreI will say that the service was really good and I did appreciate that. I have to say that the sushi overall isn't bad, but it certainly isn't good, and especially not for the prices they wanted for it. They are charging as if it's a top notch jem of a place with exotic sushi with the perfect atmosphere (imo); what you get, is the owners kids running around the restaurant and launching little propeller toys in the air in the middle of the restaurant, and mediocre sushi that is overpriced. Why they are getting a one star is, I got their seafood tacos, and it was in my opinion, terrible. The corn tortilla was awful, and the calamari's texture was off and I couldn't even swallow it. The server did however handle the situation well and removed the plate from the table and also of the check. So overall, the service was really good. As far as sushi goes, I've had better at local grocery stores for a fraction of the price. It's not terrible, but it's not good. The "spicy" mayo isn't even spicy and it's liquidy. I Litterally asked for more Siracha sauce just to fix it. They definitely didn't take any pride in how the roll is presented at all, but charge you like your at a top notch sushi restaurant. Heck even the Pick n Save in Neenah WI does a way better job at presenting their sushi, and it tastes way better for way less. I genuinely hope that the owner sees this and makes some serious changes. Good service is hard to find and they have it, and everything else can be fixed. This could be a diamond of a place if they just...
Read moreMixed review, you can tell they are struggling with workers. Let's start positive, the chef was polite and was still learning(his timing for cooking was off and seemed scared of the fire). The food was okay not bad but could be better, even portions of noodles & rice. Heaping mound of veggies and the wife and I both ordered hibachi shrimp. Let me tell you, that the amount of shrimp that comes in a normal order was the most amount I have received from any hibachi grill ever.
The bad right off the bat, the chef was trying to spin a egg and couldn't no biggie, however throwing the egg up with the angled spatula and catching he broke an egg over the table that hosts plates and drinks. Okay whatever still learning, but he left it there the whole show/cooking and finally got it during clean up. Thankfully there wasn't anyone sitting there but was close enough I could reach over and touch the egg. 🤢 The fire system for the cooking area, you can visibly see the last safety punch/Mark for one of them was last done in early 2020. The walls were scuffed up from chairs, time, along with some grime right next to a cooking station. Should be a easy clean with sponge and cleaner or paint if lazy. Food was plenty just wasn't fluid coming out to plates like other hibachi places. Bathrooms are single person in men's and safe to assume women's as well. To places like a hibachi grill there should be several stalls and urinals.
Serving size 10/10 Food was 6/10 Staff...
