If you’re in Manhattan and looking for a quick vegan bite, Vegan Grill might catch your eye. Walking in, I was greeted by two friendly staff members who were super nice and helpful—definitely a 5-star experience when it comes to customer service.
I asked the staff for their best-seller and the quickest option, and they recommended either the vegan chicken sandwich or the cheeseburger. I opted for the chicken sandwich since I just wanted something fast and simple.
The Food
Let’s talk about the sandwich. Flavor-wise, it was delicious—crispy, well-seasoned, and satisfying. I’d give it an 8.5/10 because, while it hit the spot, it was clearly made with processed vegan meat. It seemed like they bought the patty from a supplier, fried it up, and served it—nothing house-made or particularly unique. But, on a night when I’ve got the munchies, I can see this being a top-tier choice.
The Price – Absolutely Diabolical
Now, this is where things went left. $15 for just a sandwich? No fries, no drink, just the sandwich. That price is outrageous. In my opinion, a sandwich like this should be around $7–$10 at most. I get that it’s New York, but come on—charging $15 for a basic sandwich is just ridiculous.
Overall Rating
Would I go back? No. The food was good, and the service was great, but that price tag kills it for me. Because of the friendly staff, I would have given them a 5, but the absurd pricing brings it down. My final rating:
⭐ 3.5/5 (Would’ve been higher if the price wasn’t insane)

Read moreI got the Crunchwrap. It was good but overpriced. Like $17 if I remember correctly (looks like it’s literally $20 online). I have been vegan for a long time and it sucks to see places offer pretty basic food at a hefty price, because it gives an impression that vegan food is expensive. If you’re in the mood for this type of food I would just recommend going to any local Plantega and you’ll get the same type of food for less. E7 Deli & Cafe is a block away and will serve you a bacon egg and cheese for $10. This place kinda has negative vibes too. Like no music. Also putting “vegan” in the restaurant name is a very 2010s move. Truly hurts to leave a 2 star review for a vegan place, but I just have to in hopes that someone running this place reads this and makes a change. Why can Burgers on B serve me a vegan burger for $8 and this place has one for $15.60 online? If you thought about going here for a burger, just go to Burgers on B literally a few blocks away. Paradise taco has a...
Read moreStopped in last night after attending the Mayoral Forum at Cooper Union, needing something quick and good. Was VERY pleased. Granted I could have chosen something lighter or “healthier” but I wanted comfort food and did not want to spend a lot of time before getting home. Had a delicious cheesesteak sandwich (not a wrap) that was well prepared and the large portion of tater tots - I was surprised there were so many - were cooked to perfection. Friend and I sat outside at one of the two small tables, and expected to go back inside to get our food once done, but the staff actually brought it out for us! My friend had the crispy chickn sandwich and sweet potato fries. Everything was very good. I give 3 stars for atmosphere only because it’s a tiny hole in the wall and the tables at the front entrance were on some fake astroturfing that was a nuisance and kept tripping me (and others). Otherwise I would definitely go back for the quick, good service and try more of the...
