Last night our family enjoyed a wonderful sunset cruise with Captain Kelley.
It's offseason (Feb 6), before booking I'll admit I had some concerns about whether the cruise would be too cold, rainy, or unfun since the sun sets earlier than usual -- I'm happy to report that it was very enjoyable and we had a great time! The main cabin of the boat (the Rain Bird) is well-heated, which means you can take shelter if things get too cold/windy/rainy, and then venture out on deck once you're warmed up. Up on the top of the boat there are windshields and coverings that keep the cruise enjoyable even when outside. Cruising in Jan or Feb will require you to go inside and warm up occassionally, but it's easy to walk around the boat, and being outside is definitely possible. You'll get a great view of Seattle even after the sun is down.
Captain Kelley gives a great tour -- he's a fountain of knowledge about all things Puget Sound, boating/sailing, and very friendly to work with and talk to. He let our son drive the boat (which was a blast for our kiddo), and just generally brings a warmness & kindness to the trip.
Captain Kelley is also very flexible -- we were able to customize our departure time (made easier since it's offseason), we had no trouble bringing food and drinks onto the boat, and the whole experience was really painless. Captain Kelley is reachable and responsive to text messages, which we used to help set things up beforehand.
I definitely recommend sailing with Soundview Sunset Cruises. Many already book this tour in the summer, which is a great time to go, but I also think people should consider offseason too. Just bundle up a bit, bring a hat and gloves, and you'll get much of the water to yourself! Thanks Captain Kelley for the...
Read moreMy wife and I set out to enjoy a sunset cruise for our anniversary, but as Seattle would have it, it ended up being cloudy the evening we were scheduled….NO PROBLEM AT ALL! …..Setting off, we unexpectedly got to take in the amazing scenery of floating homes, dingy’s, yachts, sailboats, and seaplanes. A close up VIEW from the water of what we’ve glazed over on our typical southbound commute into Seattle. We Crawled north from South Lake Union, southeast through Portage Bay, east through the Montlake cut by the UW, then through union Bay and into Lake Washington, all the while taking in the beautiful scenery of those that chose to live on the water in Seattle. After all that….we head eastward across Lake Washington near the 520 bridge until we reach the Medina neighborhood, the gem of our area, immaculately manicured properties with expansive homes of unthinkable value owned by some of the wealthiest people in the world! Truly unforgettable!

I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but there are places and things YOU CAN ONLY SEE from the water on a cruise like this with CAPTAIN KELLEY and his 2...
Read moreMy husband and I booked soundview sunset cruises with Captain Kelley and his crew dogs Sammie and Cedar for part of our honeymoon in Seattle. We originally booked a sunset cruise but due to the crazy wind and rain storm Seattle received we rescheduled for a wine and mansions cruise a few days later. We were able to spend the first hour outside on top of the deck enjoying our wine and when it started to rain we went inside. The inside of the boat was nice and warm and cozy. We really enjoyed seeing the floating homes and the mansions. We even got to see a few millionaires mansions that can exclusively be seen from the water. Captain Kelley was extremely knowledgeable about the area and gave us a detailed tour. Our experience was very personable and we loved hanging out with Sammie and Cedar and watching them play. We will definitely book again when we come...
