Free local skiing! This rope tow was originally made from mining shaft parts converted to pull kids of all ages up the hill. The small hill is a delight to ski the small run with family and friends. It is not a complete beginner hill as the terrain is more mid level skiing but it is short enough it is fairly easy to ski. The opening of the rope tow is only when there is enough snow to ski on. Keep an eye on the City of Ouray web site. This ski hill was dedicated to the City of Ouray as a free ski hill and must remain so. Downhill ski rentals are not available in town so be prepared and bring your own gear or rent it ahead of time. Dress warm with gloves that can be ruined by the rope.
