Ulta Beauty — Attraction in Tualatin

I want to start off by saying a HUGE thank you to Liz the GM & Tricia the Salon Manager/Stylist.

I got a phone call this morning from Liz, telling me how upset she was for me and my experience and immediately offered to have Tricia fix my hair this evening without it costing me more money.

I just got finished with my appointment and WOW. I love my hair now. I am so appreciative of how communicative Tricia was throughout the entire process.

This, right here, is why I love Ulta. I definitely will be coming back to Ulta Salon.

I cannot express how happy, pretty, and confident I now feel.

original review DO NOT GO TO ULTA SALON & GET YOUR HAIR DONE BY RACHEL.

I am almost 7 months pregnant & decided to pamper myself and schedule a hair appointment. Everyone had recommended Ulta Salon and so I was looking forward to this appointment, especially since I normally just go to a beauty school.

I scheduled the appointment at 10am with Tricia, but when I got there, Tricia passed me off to Rachel. I showed Rachel a picture of what I was looking for. It was an ombré look, dark brown roots to blonde. My hair was dark brown and had not been dyed in 8 months. I told her that I understood that it wouldn’t necessarily happen today, but my hair lifts fairly well and I have been told my hair is pretty strong.

Anyway, Rachel started and she said we would be done around noon. She started a full foil on me and even though I was confused, I just told myself to trust the stylist as they’re the pros and not me. TWO HOURS LATER, she finally finished foiling my hair. (My hair is shoulder length with average thickness.) I mentioned to Rachel that I had work at 3pm and she didn’t say anything.

Around 1pm, I was finally getting the foils taken out of my hair. Rachel said we need to do toner now — at this point, my anxiety starts to really kick in. Luckily the toner only took a couple minutes. Around 1:50pm, I’m in the chair to get it blow-dried. This is the first time I’ve seen my hair and I’m shocked. I can’t even look at myself in the mirror because all I saw was this coppery-yellow mess staring back at me and a stylist who cleared did not read her client. Rachel took her sweet time to blow dry my hair. When 2pm hit, I got up out of the chair, hair still very wet, and told her I had to leave. Rachel seemed shocked. She was like, “Do you want me to style it at least?” She even told me I need a haircut. I told her no and that I just wanted to pay and leave, to which she gave me a receipt and told me to go to the front of the store to pay (even though there was a register in front of her). I ended up getting 30% off the service, just because it was my first time at the salon but I still paid $134 for the service — and now have to go elsewhere to have fixed.

I’m very upset with how my hair turned out and even more upset with the service. What was supposed to be a very relaxing, pampering moment before my baby is born, turned out to be a disaster.

I ran into Ulta to purchase a few things on May 14th. The cashier, listed as "Siarra" on my receipt asked if I had a rewards card, etc., I said no. She then proceeded to go list out the benefits of the card and then got my attention when she said that you could not make any returns unless you had a rewards card. I said, "even if you have your original receipt you can't return something unless you have the card?" She said "yes, even with the original receipt - you still needed the rewards card to make a return." I said, "What kind of customer services is that?" She basically said that was store policy. And I again said, "Even if you have your original receipt?" She said yes and I said that I will never shop here again. I am not going to patronize a store that forces you to get a rewards card to make a return. She was quite taken back and asked if it was her customer service or just store policy that I didn't want to shop here anymore. And I said store policy. She gave me my bag and as I walked out, she turned around (because no one can hear you if you turn around) and started badmouthing me to her co-workers and couldn't believe my reaction. I told my husband that I didn't care if she said anything about me, but someone should have told her to at least wait until the customer is out of the store before you start running your mouth. I have shopped at Ulta for as long as they have been in the Portland area. I believe I have returned something once or maybe twice to a store. SO...all that being said, when I got into my car, I turned the receipt around and it very clearly says on the back that you CAN make returns with your original receipt. There is no mandate on using a rewards card. I would hope that cashiers like Siarra are better educated about store policy and customer service when they are the point of contact...

I don’t do this often but I’m changing my review, due to the lack of willingness to assist customers at this specific location. During the 21 days of beauty I waited to order my favorite makeup products from the sale and even marked my calendar with the dates I wanted to place an order. I decided that I would pick up the products instead of getting them shipped to me, just because I couldn’t wait. I was involved in an accident the day after I placed my order and had so much work that I didn’t have time to go within 5 days, I arrived Friday on the 6th day. I had placed orders and pick them up right away in the past but this was a one time situation and if never crossed my mind that the order would be cancelled. When I got there the girl that greeted me was nice and told me it had been past the time for picking it up but she would ask her manager if they could help me, the manager came by and told me there was nothing to do but to purchase at the regular price. (The items were 50% off when I bought them) I called customer service and after waiting 40 mins the representative told me she couldn’t help me either, I asked where I could leave a review about the incident and was told that I would receive an email to leave a review but of course I never received that. Never doing in store pick ups, I’ll order delivery next time I need some makeup products.

A one stop shop beauty store where everyone is nice and you can feel pretty with every purchase. I really do love Ulta but try to stay away, I do get a coupon sent often but it’s still not cheap to buy make up every week so I try to wait for one of my staples to run out before coming back. You’ll definitely find me there for Black Friday or for special days because they have...
