A terrific hotel in most respects: it’s a charming, atmospheric historic building; my room was spacious and pretty, with antique decoration; good buffet breakfast in the building next door. Parking worked well - I was able to bring the car to the hotel to unload; the car park is an easy 10-minute walk away. And of course the hotel’s in a fantastic position, right in the centre of this most lovely town. Česky Krumlov is basically pedestrianised in its entirety, meaning traffic noise isn’t an issue.||The one problem is nearby church bells - which go throughout the night. It was impossible, unless you accepted being woken regularly, to leave the windows open for fresh air - which meant the room got uncomfortably warm, even in November. Ear plugs made no difference. So sadly I wouldn’t go back unless the issue is fixed, and this issue reduces what would have been a rating if a ‘5’ to a ‘3’.||Hotels in Česky Krumlov are of course not the only ones to have this problem. But surely they could club together and ask the church or churches not to ring their bells between, say, 11pm and 7am? This has happened in other places in Europe that previously had this issue.||I’ll look forward to news that the problem’s been fixed and returning to...
Read moreDisappointing. Very little in the way of welcome. The woman said what she had to tell us but that was it. Barely could smile and we only saw a couple of staff at breakfast but they didn’t acknowledge guests either. Rooms were comfortable and breakfast ok, just ok. The shabby chic appearance needs a bit of work. Curtains hanging off the curtain rings, stains on the chair and cobwebs in the bathroom, very poor quality shampoo ( and the smallest sachets ever) and white towels which had seen better days. No sanitary bags or tissues available. A fridge with 2 glasses but no water inside. Don’t be fooled into thinking there is a sauna. 50 metres away in a sister hotel, for which you have to make a request to the unsmiling host, who then turns the heat on one hour before and of course there is a charge! There is no lounge area where you can relax and no availability to purchase coffee, tea or any kind of refreshments. How this place warrants 4 stars is beyond me, it really is more like a hostel,...
Read moreThis is a lovely little boutique hotel that seems to have 4 or 5 rooms on each of its floors. Access to the lobby and dining room is at ground level and then all rooms are up a continuing set of large wooden stairs. The climb is worth it though as the rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. We had 2 rooms on the 2nd floor and both were great with large sitting areas and separate and roomy bathrooms. The beds were good. One was a king size and the other two singles joined together. The rooms were clean and the amenities fairly modern. The staff were a joy to talk with and very helpful with every question. The only downside was the very poor wifi service. I ended up having to use my own to access the outside world. Breakfast was included and was a genuine home style affair with lots to choose from - all done very well. In fact we didn't need lunch that day. Location wise it was unbeatable and only a 5 min walk to the carpark on the other side...
