Communication with staff very poor. No hotel driver / taxi met us upon arrival at the airport. No attempt to inform us that their driver was not going to show up. Original room that we booked was on third floor. Though they advertise not having an elevator - what they don't tell guests is that the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor are accessible through poorly lit, small, narrow winding dark wood stairs, which were unsafe. I would not want to bring small children or people who have vision problems. The original room we had booked was very, very small and dark. The television didn't work there was no safe, and no telephone. We immediately requested a better room. The room we got was family room, bigger for which we paid an extra 100 euros. Same deal. No telephone in the room although their website advertises a phone in the room. The room was dark and smells of chemicals. No safe (when we did request the safe - manager carried one in from another room! safe had a key.. not sure if manager had a separate key made). Felt very unsafe in this hotel. Did not trust valuables being in left in the room - even when they were locked in our suitcase and the portable safe. Staff frequently visited our room while we were out without informing us. This happened too often. Found out later that they were coming in to fix stuff. No 'clean up' after attempting to fix stuff. The window did not close, the bathroom door didn't lock or shut. Neither window or bathroom door got fixed. We found loose screws lying around floor on bathroom floor.. which we stepped on. Luckily none of us got hurt. No staff available at front office..unless if new guests were checking in. Front office was locked 90% of the day.. sometimes the whole day. We left a day earlier, couldn't get anyone to order a taxi for us.. because front office was closed. Had to ask another hotel nearby to call a taxi for us. Very disappointed with this place. Do...
Read moreOhhhh Bozzali!!! I've been gone for 8 months now and I'm still thinking of my beautiful trip to Chania! Bozzali is this cute small, totally authentic hotel in the heart of Old town Chania. If you're looking for a yoga studio, 24 hr gym and room service this place isn't for you. Actually Chania, probably isn't for you! But if you're looking for a clean room with modern furnishings, in the LITERAL middle of everything Bozzali IS for you. The staff is SUPER helpful and stays out of the way but DOES check in with you periodically to make sure you have everything you need. They even have a poster on the wall with suggestions for everything you may be interested in going to! So thoughtful! When I was flying back to the states out of ATH I had a tear in my eye because I didn't want to leave Greece. The agent called me out and said "you fell in love didn't you? You fell in love with Greece!" And i SO Did. But when I think about Greece, it's not Athens that pops up in my head. It's the Old town alleys of Chania. Walking between the bustling outdoor restaurant tables. Waving to the Melodica staff and saying hi to Luisa the bar dog. And then ending my day in my room at Bozzali, TRULY a perfect Chanian oasis! I can't WAIT...
Read moreThe place was beautiful and the rooms were spacious especially the room with the balcony. Unfortunately the bathroom was a bit rundown with no ventilation so it got muggy pretty quick. The maid service was very good though and she cleaned up every day. The bedroom with the front door had a window directly above it with a clear point of view to another roof. Throughout our stay there were different people working on the other roof so we felt unsafe and covered that window with a bedspread. As throughout Greece, you won’t find an elevator here so plan accordingly especially if you’re carrying up 50 pounds of luggage. We also left by bus to get to the Heraklion port and because we were “so close” to the bus station, the taxis would not make the trip. We had no choice but to walk 20 blocks with our luggage and carryons on cobble stone streets. So be aware if you’re planning on using taxi or transfer service to nearby places within Chania. However, the front desk was kind enough to extend our time into a late checkout as our bus was leaving later on in the evening. The front desk also communicated well throughout our stay. All in all, this place was a mixed bag and I probably...
